My doctor is a basic doctor who tries not to look into things. Ive had depression for a while and am on meds. It seems like one momment im extremely happy, and then I change and turn crazy and paranoid and start crying. Simple, everyday things set me off. My family always say, im moody and have different personalities.

Some of my friends think im the most happiest person they have met, and my family think im a crazy misrible freak

im going to the theropist next week. Should I bother to ask about bipolar?

I Know What You Mean
I understand how you feel. I'm very moody and I get depressed a lot. Even though I don't think I have any mental problems. My friends and family say that I either have odd or i'm bipolar. Anyways, I suggest that you ask your therapist about bi-polar disorder. Hope it turns out ok. :d

ps: could you reply to my forum, I would really appreciate that. :d

Life can be very stressful and overwhelming at times...Doesn't sound like your family is very nice calling you a freak...I'm thinking they're the one with the issues...Lol

it wouldn't hurt to seek an opinion from a psychiatrist and maybe it would put your mind at rest...!

Good luck!

Rapid Cycling
According to the book your mental health, anyone who is on anti-depressants should be asking "am I bipolar?" the fact is that anti-depressants can promote manic states and rapid cycling. Going through manic states is a lot of fun, but you crash, so, you probably should ask about being on a mood stabilizer. That book is by frances and first. Pg. 69.

Extremely eHealthy
Before rushing into meds etc try some natural things like sam-e & 5htp (check tyryptophan or sam-e on a search engine) also viatmin b's & yoga or pilates &/or meditaion, gentle exercise, hobbies, journalling (writing down your feelings) etc. Get some self help books first & see if you can help or at least start to heal yourself & then if necessary see a psychiatrist.

Ask everything! Then start researching on your own. Whether you have depression or heart disease, it is always a good idea to get a second opinion. No one is perfect or infallible. If you don't feel like you and your doctor "gel", find another one. I don't mean to keep going to doctors until they tell you what you "want" to hear, just until you are sure that you have had a thorough medical and mental evaluation.

Remember that natural remedies are drugs too. Just because they have a "natural" label does not mean they are right for you. If you are interested in going in that direction, research that. Alot of natural remedies that were touted as mental health cures have since been proven to do more harm than good.

It is very important to live a clean life, by that I don't mean have no fun, it means everything in moderation. If you are going to out and party, don't do it every night. If your are going to drink, don't do it every day. Get enough sleep, on a regular schedule. Do some exercise, you don't have to be a hard body, just move yours occasionally. Eat a healthy diet of all the food groups, try to limit your intake of artificial sweetners and preservatives. And don't under any circumstances do recreational drugs if you have a mental health problem. That will take you from bad to worse on the express train to hell.

This is all might seem like a drag, but a normal existance is not a drag, it is a dream come true to anybody who has experiened serious mental illness.

Good luck

mia
