asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 1st, 2007
Doctor Question
I Just have been menustrating for the past few days and early this morning I after I went to the bathroom I got this sharp pain on my right side just above my pubic hair it sometime travelled on my side but it mostly started from there, could this be that I held on to go to the bathroom too long or is it something more could it be pregnancy, I recently had my period on the 7th Dec and again received it on the 29th Dec, the pain wasn't a cramp it was like someone stabbing me, any ideas. If it persists I shall see my doctor, it is a bit tender now but not as bad.

Pain is not a sign of pregnancy. In your case, it is too early for you to be pregnant. You can wait until you miss your next period to to check if you are pregnant, or not. According to the description of the pain you are experiencing (sharp pain above pubis region that travels to the right side) you could be experiencing renal colic (pain due to kidney stones). You'll have to visit your primary health provider immediately for a correct diagnosis and proper treatment.
