Q: What causes nausea?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 1st, 2007
Hello, I hope you can help me.

I have been suffering from on-off nausea for almost a week. I thought it was due to the night prior to all this starting when I stayed up literally all night (6 am) and felt sick the next day. However, I took a nap and woke up feeling fine. Thursday I felt okay, but starting Fri-present time I still feel nauseous. Today (Monday) I felt better when I woke up and was able to eat breakfast and lunch, but this afternoon, I felt somewhat nauseous again, although not as badly, however now I am having loose bowels and diarreha. I think it's my body trying to get rid of this bug, but it'd settle my mind if I knew. Please help me.

Nausea Answer A2125
Nausea with or without vomiting can be due to a stomach (or intestinal) disorder or disorder not related to either. Nausea is an unpleasant feeling that is controlled by the brain and depends upon many factors coming from the digestive system... or by factors going out of it. You are already experiencing diarrhea which means that you might be experiencing some gastro-intestinal infection that probably provokes nausea. Many disorders out of the digestive system can cause nausea including psycho-emotional disorders.
