Pregnancy After Caserean, Breastfeeding While Pregnant Posted: 12-30-06 22:38pm
Hello,
i have a 5 1/2month old daughter who I am
breastfeeding, iwas wondering if anyone
knows what is the reccommended time to
wait after a cesarean to become pregnant?
Also can I continue breastfeeding while
pregnant, will it affect my milk for my
daughter or harm the unborn baby?

You should ask your doc about when to get
pregnant. A nurse at work breastfed one
of her children while she was pregnant and
then quit about two months before her next
baby was born to give her breasts a short
break and to let the colostrum build back
up so the baby could get the same
antibodies.

For c-sections they usually recommend two
years, for vaginal birth they recommend
one year. If you dont give your body the
appropriate time to heal it can be
dangerous, or can cause medical problems
in the future, one of the major problems
with c-sections is uterine rupture.
Talk to your dr though hes the best one to
speak with on this subject!
