Leg Muscle Deteriorating? Posted: 12-30-06 13:24pm
Hello. My name is jason. I'm 23 years
old and in fairly good health.
For the last 3 years, I have been
experiencing some problems with the
muscles in my leg. My shin to be exact.
I was in a cycling accident when it
started. I wrecked cycling across the
state. When I did, I landed on a very
large tree root. It put a very noticable
"dent" in my leg about 2 inches down from
my knee. A few months passed and it
seemed to be filling with fluid or
something of the sort. Now, 3 years
later, most of my shin is "bubbly" and
soft. I can push rather hard on these
soft "fluid spots" and go all the way to
the bone. I'm not sure what to do about
it. There is no pain, and I can use my
leg perfectly fine. I'm just worried it
might be something serious and that it
will become dangerous in the future.
Any advice or help on this subject would
be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure
where else to turn due to the fact that I
don't have insurance.
Thank you for your time.

My opinion or suggestion is to go to see
your dr and to possibly get seen by either
a sports dr if your dr is not one already
and possibly get referred to an ortho dr
that might be able to drain the fluid and
check it out. Keep us posted on what you
find out. Keep in mind that I am not a
Dr. You might be able to set up payments
or get some assistance, you might be able
to call the ortho and explain the
situation, odds are the ortho will want to
see you or you can go to one of these day
clinics, sort of like er.
Good luck!
