Q: Bumps expel white substance when pressed
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 30th, 2006
My 6 year old son has these little bumps on and under his arm and on his chest. They kind of look like warts, but if you mash on them a white thing comes out of them. They have not been ichy nor bothersome to him, but he now has 3 of then that are ichy. What could this be? There are alot of them now. I will take him to the doctor on Tuesday, but I am very concerned about this. Please help.

According to your description, (bumps that expel a “white thing” when pressed) your son might be experiencing a skin infection. It could be bacterial, but it's not certain. Warts are caused by the Human papiloma virus (HPV) but they don’t expel white matter when pressed. Skin lesions need to be seen to be properly diagnosed. You can bring your son to his primary health provider or even a dermatologist, if necessary.
