Does it bug any of you with bipolar when ppl make judgements before they even know you? I mean I feel the majority of us are pretty normal.

There is a bit of stereotyping on bipolar disorders. The first thing that comes to ones mind when the word is mentioned is psycho. I am dating a gentlemen that was diagnosed as being bipolar. We have had our ups and downs but then again in what relationships is there never any ups and downs. It does take a great deal of strength on the down days but it also takes compation and understanding. Again in what relationship is there out there that you do not provide compation, understanding and strength. Really, bipolar disorder has rough spots and if you really understand the person and know the person they are just like anyother normal person with just a few quirks that you have to observe and help eachother get past. Again don't we all have our own little quirks that people don't understand?

I totally agree with you. Ppl get the wrong idea of what bipolar is because they dont really know much about it. I mean sometimes ppl with bipolar had issues in the past that can make the bipolar seem worse than what it really is. I have had issues in my past, but I have managed to keep my bipolar moods under control. And I am not saying that bipolar ppl cant have their bad days, but who doesnt get bad days?

You know, I may not be bipolar but I have a good friend of mine that is and I have my share of medical problems and this friend of mine is a sweet person, no one has the right to judge you, they are not perfect, no one is perfect, you are not psycho and who doesn't have their bad days! I agree, alot of people do not understand what being bipolar is and just like me some do get tired of taking their meds even though we know we need to. I do wish you the best because I do understand!

You know what makes me very angry: insurance. My husband has never been a high risk to himself or other people but since he has the label, he couldn't get health insurance when he was without a job. We didn't qualify for free insurance...Go figure. They lumped him in a category and refuse to look at it case by case basis. It stinks.

I usually don't tell anyone about my bipolar unless someone is asking me. People are so judgemental, it is just human nature. What people don't realize is that they are not perfect either, so they have something wrong with them too!
