Well in a few days I will be 28 weeks pregnant. I get to go take that test to check about diabetes next week when I go see my midwife, I dread it, having to drink that nasty thing and sit around for a hour.

Hope everyone had a great christmas!!! I spent all my christmas money on baby stuff lol, and I still need a ton of things. I bought one of those travel system things(the infant car seat and stroller) and a bath tub thing and some sleepers and pacifiers and bath stuff and a bottle warmer. I got 3 diaper bags for christmas lol and don't have a receipt for any so I guess I will just keep them.

My step sister is throwing us a baby shower sometime around the first of february since he is due in march and they think he might be a little early. I have never been to a baby shower but I guess it will be nice, I registered at babies r us. I still need a crib mattress and a pack n play and a bouncer/glider/swing thing and a breast pump.

I have decided to breat feed him for a while maybe like 6 weeks or so.

Anyway, sorry for rambling on just thought ide share whats going on with everyone lol. Take care everyone!!!

I think there are differents kinds of "the drink". Some people say it's really nasty and they threw up and whatnot. Mine tasted just like orange soda, fizz and all. So maybe you'll be lucky and get a yummy one!

Also, my 2 cents... Bottle warmers are a waste of money. I've never warmed a bottle (unless it's one from the fridge in the middle of the night, then I just microwave it for 15 seconds to take the chill off), my baby drinks his bottles whatever temp they come out of the faucet (just not really cold). Since he's never had a warmed bottle he won't be pissed off when we're out and a way to heat it up isn't accessible. There's really no reason to heat it unless you want to. Just letting you know! You could always return the warmer and buy something else!

You have plenty of time to get the rest of your gear so don't stress if you don't have something. Have fun at your shower! I'm sure it'll be great.

Oh, and why are you only planning to breastfeed for 6 weeks? If you can go 6 weeks, why not 6 months (or more)? Just wondering...

Hey .Kezia, long time no talk! Good to hear things are coming along nicely! The glucose test isn't that bad. My drink was orange- &it just tasted like really really really cold flat orange soda! I had mine last week. I'll be 29wks on .Monday! We're getting pretty close! I'm getting my 3d ultrasound here in a few weeks, so .I'm really excited for that!

You make the formula from the tap? On the formula stuff we have it says to boil the water and let it sit till its luke warm... So that way any bactera can be killed and its not too hot for the baby....
The nurses also told me not to microwave bottles cause it leaves a hot spot and can burn your babies mouth so ur sposta seat the bottle in hot water

we have a pur water filter on our faucet and our tap water is good. I don't know anyone who actually boils their water for formula.

I only microwave his bottles that have been in the fridge and I only do it for 15 seconds then shake the hell out of it. It's the middle of the night and I have a crying baby, I don't have time to sit and wait for a bowl of hot water to warm a cold bottle.

Yeh your not supposed to use a microwave cos it makes hot spots in the milk but most people do anyways, and really if u shake it a .L.O.T after then the hot spots woulda gone?? But then you have a lot of air in the milk making the baby have gas....Breastfeeding is way better but yeh.

I think bottle warmers are a good thing to have. I keep one in my bedroom so I can heat a bottle from the fridge real quick in the middle of the night in my room. Maybe they dont cause hot spots like the microwave does?? I dunno but im glad I bought one.

Bridget did you mean finn always drinks cold milk just incase u get caught some place where u cant heat up a bottle?? Im not sure what you were saying but if thats the case I feel sorry for him...Poor kid Confused

Edited to add -you should always boil the water to kill bacteria for your babys formula. I know a couple of people who only did it for the first few weeks....Lazy! Evil or Very Mad you should put your baby's health first always.

it's room temperature, not cold. Why do you feel sorry for him? There's no reason to heat bottles and he has no problem with his room temperature ones. I just chose not to heat his bottles, not because i'm afraid i'll be out and won't be able to, but because there's no reason to so why make him a picky eater who will only take it warmed? They didn't offer to warm his bottles in the hospital so it's obviously not necessary.

i do put my baby's health first. Maybe you have unhealthy water but i've never been told to boil any water. The pediatrician knows I use tap and he's happy about it. If I had well-water i'd definitely boil it but I don't.

The cans of formula I buy say to only use boiled, cooled water to make the bottles up with so that is what i've always done. I always sterilised his bottles until he was 12 months old too.

Perhaps in .America people aren't told to boil the water for babies' bottles? I don't think it's because our water is impure or anything. It seems the advice given to mothers in the .U.S differs a lot from that in the .U.K in many things. Confused
