I have been on the pill for many years. I originally went on the pill as a teenager to treat acne. Last year, my doctor tried me on a new pill and I suffered terrible depression and fits of rage. I'm recently married and want to go off the pill to try to get pregnant but am worried about becoming a depressed homicidal maniac with acne! Do I have temporary treatment options to help smooth out this bodily re-adjustment or just plunge in? Any thoughts?

Having a Baby
If you are serious about having a baby, you should discuss all of your options with a doctor. It would be the best thing for you and your baby. You want your pregnacy to be a happy time. There are other methods of treating acne that are safe for a growing baby. As far as depression, you might want to seek therapy during and after your pregnancy. It can help alot. Acne almost dissapeared on most women I know who were pregnant. It could be the prenatal vitamins. I know I took prenatal vitamins for a little while even though I wasn't pregnant and my face cleared up significantly. Ultimately, if you really want to have a child that would mean no birth control. There are other options out there for your problems, but I am not a doctor or physician so I cannot give you exact information.
