Q: Skin lesions in upper pubic region
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 28th, 2006
i have little red bumps under my belly button and lower stomach in addition to on my upper pubic region. I don't have any on my genitals, but i'm concerned it could be something sexually transmitted. I have been with my girlfriend for 2 years. I had one previous partner with whom i had sex one time and used a condom. My girlfriend has been tested and is not aware of any STDs. I'm wondering if the red bumps are an STD and if so what could it be. In addition is it possible to have contracted anything from my previous partner.

According to your description of the skin lesion (red bumps) and its localization (between the belly button and the pubic region) it doesn’t seem to me that you are experiencing some type of sexually transmitted disease (STD). The skin lesion you are experiencing is more likely a kind of skin infection that affects the hair follicles (superficial folliculitis). It can also be an allergic skin reaction. You can consult a dermatologist and request a balsam that contains a combination of antibiotic and corticosteroids that can be prescribed.
