What could cause spotting? I know implantation bleeding is a possible answer, however its nearly impossible that i'm pregnant. I'm a virgin and while my boyfriend and I have done some heavy petting we are always very careful about bodily fluids. I had my regular period dec 6 and a week later I had some light pink/brown spotting for 3 days that could be described as a light period. But was mostly visible just when wiping. I was really sick with some nasaeu, a cold, sinus pressure, dizzyness, etc. On christmas eve, but those symptoms have since subsided. I have noticed some slight cramping and low back pain and the spotting has not started again and it is somewhat heavy. I notice some burning, itching, and a fishy/foul smell and some discharge occassionally. I bought a yeast infection treatment kit and will try that, should I call the doctor right away though?

Don't use a yeast infection treatment unless you know that is the cause.

Killing off yeast allows bacteria to grow and if it is a bacterial infection then you will just make it worse.

A foul/fishy smell definately indicates an infection and you should get an exam to find out what infection and get the right meds for it.

Spotting is something many women just have - it's all down to your hormones.
