Hi

my dad (72) is a diabetic and has really itchy skin. He had most of one foot amputated 10 years ago and it still causes him grief. Now I am really itchy, blurred vision and thirsty and getting really nervous. Are there any creams my dad can use? Is his depression from diabetes too? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Itchy Skin
Dear: miscille,

I went to a diabetic class to learn more about the disease and I was told that using creams with perfume in it will cause your skin to get dry and itchy. Plus if you have itchy skin it could be the soap you are using to take a bath. Try using something else without perfume or a apricot scrub to scratch off the old skin and it leaves your skin so soft. If I were you I would get checked at least once a year for diabetes because it can run in the family. Especially if your over your recommened weight for your height.
