Well i'm hoping it's nothing, but as i'm new to this I have no idea what to expect.. I took .Jennifer to the doctors yesterday for her check-up and the doctor said she had a heart murmur. I have to take her back next week, and if it's still there then he'll refer her to a specialist at the hospital.

I don't want to google "heart murmur" because whenever I google symptoms or conditions I always end up scaring myself to death because of all the worst case scenarios I read. The doctor did seem a bit concerned, but i'm guessing it isn't that serious, or he would have acted on it now, rather than giving it another week.

I can't help but worry.. She's so tiny and I don't want anything bad happening to her Sad

I have a heart murmur. It's painful at times. But it's not life threatning.

In some cases, i'm guess it could be. But he would know and would have acted quickly if he thought .Jen's life were in danger.

I promise I won't google it! Wink

keep us updated girl!

I was born with a murmur. A lot of babies have them, and it's usually fine.

Basically, while the baby is still in the womb, there's a space between the two ventricles (.I think it's ventricles), that allows blood to pass through. It slowly closes on its own, and sometimes doesn't close completely by the time the little one is born.

Chances are, they won't need to do a thing to her. She'll probably be just fine, love!

*big hugs*

My niece was born with a heart murmer. They're not all that uncommon, and often clear up on their own before a child is 3 or 4. Of course you want to be concerned over health issues, but I wouldn't let myself get overly worked up about it. Most cases resolve themselves. Hope everything turns out well! Smile

Heart murmurs are common in newborns and usually clear up early in life. It's simply one of the valves in the heart not closing off just right. Nothing extremely scary really. Many people live with heart murmurs, others just get rid of them. My nephew had one when he was born and was sent to a specialist but the heart doctor said he was fine and it went away as far as I know.

Hey .Zanny, .Adriana was born with a heart murmur and she was referred to a specialist. She had to have an echocardiogram when she was 2 weeks old. That just confirmed the murmur (the type of murmur...I guess there is more than 1?)
but at her visit with her normal doc on .Monday he said he didn't hear it anymore. Up until now he has tho, but she does have a follow up appointment with the specialist when she is a year old, and her doctor was pretty sure it would be her last as he's pretty sure it's gone. I have some print-outs and such that the specialist gave us, and some websites to visit, .I am on my way out the door tho (staying at my parents house tonight, she's having surgery and we've gotta be there by 5:30am, and it's a 45 min. Drive Confused )
but .I will dig through her files n' get them out n' copy them on here if you'd be interested. You may have to remind me next time .I'm on tho, as .I seem to be a bit scatter brained lately Laughing
but as the other girls have said .I'm sure it's harmless and little .Jenny will be just fine!

Ahh yes, some babies can be born with this condition, when the foramen ovale doesn't seal once the baby has been born, it usually clears up on it's own ^_^. Jenny looks like a happy healthy albeit small baby, she will be fine. She's gorgeous by the way zanny. I've always wanted to comment on how cute her light hair is Smile .

Hoping all is well and happy holidays

Chase4,
my dad had wpw. What course of treatment are they providing for your daughter? I am just curious since my dad had it. They did surgery to fix his but there is always a chance of the surgery reversing itself.
