Hello! In the past year I have come across these boards but I never thought of joining, until something occured. Ok here's the thing.. Actually its 2 things. First off, i'm 16, my period has been regular for a year or so and I have sex with my boyfriend at least once a week. We always use a condom but we have tried the pull-out method 3 times. On the first 2, I took the pill. On the third time, (which was a couple of weeks ago), I didnt because we thought it was safe. However, my period is now delayed for 6 days and i'm really freaked out. It has never been delayed for more than one or two days. Is this natural? Or does it mean that im pregnant or something??

I also wanted to ask about a friend of mine (just something we're curious about, it happened a couple of years ago). She was having sex with this guy, and the condom broke. She had recently got off her period (it had ended about 2 days ago) and she had the pill. 4 days later, she had her period again, but for only a couple of days or more (her regular period lasts for 8 days). Does this mean that she was pregnant and the pill helped her to miscarry?

Thank you for your time, and please answer because I have no one else to ask all that stuff.. Although my mom is very open-minded and we talk about that stuff, I just cant even imply that I am pregnant (if I really am...) thanks again

What "pill" do you mean?

If you mean birth control, it does not cause miscarriages to my knowledge.

If you mean the morning-after pill, it prevents ovulation. What that means is, it stops your body from releasing an egg. So when the sperm make their way up into your reproductive system, it won't find an egg to fertilize. The egg is what eventually becomes a baby. The morning-after pill does not expel an already-formed baby.

We cant tell you if your pregnant, you would have to buy a pregnancy test to confirm that,or go to your ob/gyn.Im 16 too.But I have a 7 month old,and married.Sometimes your period could be late cause your stressin out.And by pill, you mean the moring after pill right? Well,im not sure if it caused her to miscarry because what I know the baby isn't it developed yet.

Common things that can mess up your cycle:
1) stress
2) starting birth control
3) stopping birth control
4) switching birth control methods
5) puberty and natural horomonal changes
6) not eating enough or dieting
7) taking horomones, steroids, or other prescription drugs
8 ) illness

why dont you read these stickies? Its there for a reason.

As you are late for your period you can take a pregnancy test. That is the only way to know if you are pregnant. It's possible that you are pregnant because you haven't been careful with contraception. If you want to get pregnant then you are going the right way about it.

Use a condom every time or go on the pill if you trust your boyfriend does not have any lovely diseases.

As for your friend; the morning after pill can cause bleeding but it's not a miscarriage.

Did I mention to use a condom every time? Wink

Take a test.

The pull-out method is not a method, &it's isn't "safe."
.There is still pre-cum, &it can contain sperm.

.If you have unprotected sex,
you can &will get pregnant eventually.

I don't know how many times .I've said this..

All it takes is one time,
&one little sperm.

Yup, I mean the morning-after pill... Thank you all for answering, im gonna get a pregnancy test on friday after school... Sad i'm just so irresponsible and I hate it.... I really hate myself right now. I cant even face my mom.

I have heard that some women miss their periods but are not pregnant, and their cycle goes back to normal after a while.. Is it true?

Its been 2 or 3 weeks since we had unprotected sex. Do I have to wait more before I take the test?

If you've missed your period, you can test a test.

&.Yes, you're young, so your cycle is still changing &adjusting. So it is possible to miss periods or be late, because your cycle isn't truly "regular" yet.

But get a test, &take it with first morning urine.

Test results are best if u take the test in the morning because your urine will have more of the pregnancy hormone in it

I don't understand why people wait to take tests. Wouldn't you want to know asap? I mean if she's more than a week ate, she doesn't really need the heavily concentrated first morning pee, it'll show up.

One of the two tests could detect the hormone in urine any time of the day. So I did the first one yesterday afternoon, and the second one today, first thing in the morning. Thank god, they were both negative!!! And I think i'm getting my period tomorrow cause I get strong pains here and there...... Thank you all for answering my post.. You're great Wink. I'll never try anything without a condom from now on (until when i'm ready to raise a kid, of course...)

well that's a little extreme, not trying anything without a condom. You can cook and read or try a new dish without one.

Lame tanya... Lame.
