Q: Writing a Book Need Help Naming the Characters...

I need some ideas for character last names. I need one that's slavic but is a common last name. And sarah, I need a good creole last name but nothing stereotypical like fontenot, benoit, bellefontaine, picard or boudreau. And I need a good solid french first name to go with it.

Okay i'm still working out the details on this one. So i'm not a hundred percent sure where i'm going with this one yet. But the lovely creole lady that i'm trying to find a name for is going to be a journalist who is sent out on an assignment to cover some sort of civil unrest in a slavic nation. She's going to make a some sort of major snaffoo (sp) during a live report that's going to cause quite a stink for her news company and get her into a lot of trouble with the wrong people. Her corporate credit card is going to be frozen (don't know how yet), stranding her in the middle of the bad situation. Enter our native hero who will of course vow to protect her with his life, blah, blah. I'm really not big on romances since they're so formulaic but they're what's paying right now... Rolling Eyes

Will there be sex? Shocked

it's so silly... I can walk into the romance section of a bookstore, grab a book, open it at random and someone will either be having sex, touching someone sexually, or thinking about having sex? Laughing

if you get published I want an autographed copy! Wink

you got it girlie! And you know there will be. The funny thing is almost everytime I open a romance novel to page 76 there's some sort of hankie pankie going on. There've been a few times it didn't work but it has most of the time. Laughing

Lol. What do you think about nathalie as a first name? Or maybe noemie...Hmmm. It's easier to name characters if you want to write their story...

Hey la girls,

has bourbon street changed much since katrina? Was there a lot of damage in the french quarter or no? I'm uncertain what areas were relatively unharmed and "noemie arceneaux" needs to visit a little night spot in the french quarter with some friends in the opening scene of my book. I haven't been to la in a few years (pre-katrina of course) and since i'm going for a contemporary setting I need to work with an undamaged area.

I live about 3 mins from .Burbon. And the .French .Quarter. It didn't have any flooding. Minimal damage. So writing about it would be about the same as pre katrina.
