Q: Causes of Dizziness
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 11th, 2006
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING DIZZINESS FOR THE PAST YEAR ALMOST EVERY DAY. MY GP SAYS IT IS ANXIETY, MY ENT HAS PUT ME THROUGH ENG TESTING AS WELL AS A HEARING TEST AND MERINERS TEST. ALL OF WHICH CAME BACK NORMAL. I DO HAVE ANXIETY ABOUT THIS AND IT ONLY SEEMS TO MAKE IT WORSE. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS AND WHY IT KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME. I HAVE NECK PAIN ONCE AND AWHILE, AND THE DIZZINESS SEEMS TO GET WORSE WITH HEAD MOVEMENT AS WELL AS WHEN I AM ON THE COMPUTER. I ALSO FEEL MY LEGS SHAKE WHEN I WALK. I DO NOT FALL OR PASS OUT. IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME?
PS-NO ONE THINKS THAT I NEED FURTHER TESTING AND IT IS ALL NERVES. IF IT IS WHY WONT IT GO AWAY, AND IF SO WHAT CAN I DO TO GET IT TO STOP! IT IS EFFECTING MY EVERYDAY LIFE!!!!!

Dizziness can be due to an inner ear disorder or a neurological disorder. Anemia and arterial hypotension can also cause dizziness. You can ask for a second opinion from an ENT-specialist, neurologist and internist. If everything appears ok again you can then consult a mental health doctor. Anxiety disorders can cause dizziness. All anxiety disorders are chronic mental diseases and their treatment is not so simple. A combination of anxiolitic drugs, antidepressants, and psychotherapy is the usual therapy for anxiety disorders.
