Q: Retinal bleeding and disability
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 11th, 2006
I recently suffered a retinal bleed. I am not overweight, diabetic, or have high blood pressure (in fact, my blood pressue is low). Un fortuneately, it happened in the center of my good eye, so my vision is only slightly better than legally blind. My right eye is 20/100 and all I can see in the left is a dot from far away or a very distorted picture up close. I need to know the aveage time it take for vision to return to normal. This is important, because I need to know if I should begin the process for applying for long term disability at work I normally work 8 hrs a day making airline reservations on the computer and even at high magnification, I have difficulty reading, which means I cannot do my job.

Retinal bleeding is a very serious condition and it is difficult to believe that your vision will recover completely. You should consult an ophthalmologist about your health problem and about the conditions for long term disability.
