Q: Vasectomy: post-op symptoms
asked by: DoctorQuestion on December 8th, 2006
I recently had a vasectomy. The first ejaculation after the procedure had a rust colored substance in it other then that it was normal. The ejaculation happened 2 to 3 days after the procedure. Was this rust colored substance the remnants of my tubes being seared shut? Or is this something i have to worry about? Also after the ejaculation my scrotum became very bruised. Even though i didnt see any brusing the first 2 to 3 days.

Thanks

After a vasectomy, the semen contains everything it did pre-procedure, except the spermatozoids. The post-op semen contains secretions from the urethral glands, prostate, and seminal vesicles... but no spermatozoids from the testicles are present. If the testicles are swollen and painful, you should consult your urologist because you may be experiencing an infection.
