I've heard terrible things about depo.

I'm on yaz too, I started it like 2 and a half weeks ago and i've been bleeding for about a week and a half. How long have you been on it? I was told to expect breakthrough bleeding for up to 3 months while my body adjusted to it.

I also heard terrible things about depo, and the patch. Actually my gyno doesnt even prescribe the patch anymore because of all the lawsuits against it.

Im on the pill, nordette. I dont bleed much, but I forget to take it so I am loooking into either the iud or the ring.

The only birth control that my insurance covers is levora, lessina, necon, ovcon or I could go the the health center and I think they have ortha tri cyclen which do u guys think is the best? I got 2 free packs of yaz from my doc so I need to figure out which one I am gonna change to

And nordette is very inexpensive so you wouldn't have to worry about insurance. I used to pay $2.42 for a box ....Which is one month.....And it is very effective.

My personal experience with depo is that I had extreme mood swings and I put on lots of weight. I put on a good 28 lbs with it very quickly! Shocked I know it was the depo because when I stopped using it, the weight just fell off me.

Yeah I heard bad things about depo. I'm on the mirena coil which I adore but obviously cause you guys have to pay for your b/c it would probably be v. Expensive Shocked

worth it though for 5 years of no babies! Lol

If you opt for getting the shot avoid depo provera like the plague and opt instead for noristerat or levonelle - yes most people don't know there is more than one kind.

The nuva ring has good reports so long as you use it correctly - you may even remove it during sex if you wish - so long as you remember to replace it again afterwards.

Patch has poor reports, with a high failure rate.

As this is your first month on birth control - if I was your doctor i'd be suggesting you stick with it for the 3 months, because it can take a while for you cycle to settle down.

Yaz is relatively new on the market but has undergone extensive testing. It is quite a step up for oral contraceptives.

Mirena, which is one brand of the ius (intra uterine system) is a copper and/or plastic device which releases hormones inside the uterus.
It has a long life (some ius say 10 years - some ius say 5 years) but normal fertility is restored upon removal.
The ius is the development on the older iud (intra uterine device) which does not contain hormones.

The differences are that an iud often lead to heavier periods, while women on the ius often report very light or no periods.

Chopping and changing birth control before you give it a chance to settle is more likely to end up with heavy bleeding, break through bleeding and so forth.

I can't see anything kia... Confused

So can I get a mirena that lasts 10 years? If so I want it!

No, mirena is one brand of the ius and should be changed after 5 years.

Lots of people think mirena is the ius - it's not it just one brand.
Like ortho tri cyclen is one brand of birth control pill.

There is also femilis, fibreplant-lng and gyne-fix.

Mirena is the most widely used form of the ius and the only one available in the usa.

ok, sorry, I must have misunderstood, I thought you'd got that one on your ins from your doc.

From the ones that your ins does cover ask your doc which would be best suited to you (they should base it on your medical history - I know a lot don't but if you ask which and why then they should).

Ortho tri cyclen has quite good reports, it is tri phasic so a bit different to a standard b/c pill.
And you need to make sure you take it properly as the amount of active hormones changes in the pills to mimick a natural cycle.

i didn't have any problems when I used it and I think depo provera should be discontinued. It wasn't researched as well as it should have been before marketing it.
