Not sure this is in the right forum, but it seemed to be the closest match.

For the past few days, I have been dealing with a somewhat embarrassing problem.

My anal/butthole has literally been itching, and at times, painful. It is only painful when I feel around the area (when I try and figure out what is wrong). Sometimes, when I squeeze my buttocks, or spread them too much, it gets painful.

I do not think it is hemmroids (sp?)

i had my wife take a look (embarrassing) and she said it looks really rashy, even a little pus it seems, as if some skin has been taken off. But there doesn't seem to be a tear (anal fissure: http://en.Wikipedia.Org/wiki/anal_fissure )

it does't hurt when I go to the restroom, nor is the stool bloody or anything. When I sit down, I don't feel much pain, just uncomfortable from the itching at times.

Any idea what this is? How long it lasts? Do I really need to see a doctor?
