Does anyone have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep because of anxiety. I find that some night I can fall asleep easier then others but I always wake up at least 6 or 7 times during the night

Hi deedee,
i have trouble falling asleep - takes around 30 mintues normally can be longer, can be shorter. I have a 2 year old so I sleep light so that I can hear her I think. Some nights I can wake up and roll staight over and go back to sleep, other nights I can lay there for hours - especially if I am going somewhere the next day or if I have soemthing on that I am worried about. My mum is the same sometimes she lays for hours before finally nodding off
my daughter sleeps through the night now but I always get up and check her or go to the loo. I think that sleep patterns depend on how your are feeling.

During the day if I am home and relaxing on the lounge or on the floor with my daughter I can fall asleep pretty easily but when I wake up I feel like crap.

Physical symptoms of anxiety include fatigue, insomnia, stomach problems, sweating, racing heart, rapid breathing, shortness of breath, and irritability.

St. John's wort extract helps to maintain a steady mood and promotes good mental function in the treatment of anxiety disorder. Hops extract and valerian extract can act as a sedative and help to cause sleep and lessen anxiety and tension. Take valerian extract 30 minutes before bedtime. Skullcap extract has been used historically as a sedative for people with nervous tension and insomnia which may be helpful in the treatment of anxiety disorder. Chamomile extract contains active constituents that contribute to smooth-muscle relaxing action. People with anxiety disorder (also known as nervousness, panic attacks) are often deficient in essential nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, b vitamins. Zinc is an essential mineral that is a component of enzymes that protect against free radicals caused by anxiety whic may be important in the treatment of anxiety disorder.
