Lol, she was giving the baby a kiss. I put her at the other end of my room, and she made her way to my closet doors (double doors, that's nothin' but mirrors) she's getting really good at scooting.

Grrrr. Stupid people. I just made .Adriana's follw up appointment, and .I asked the nurse if .I could come get a sterile container of some sort so .I could take .Adriana's urine sample myself instead of them puting a catheter in again, and she had the balls to tell me no!! I about flipped! I told her the only way they were getting a urine sample is if .I could get it at home, .I'll wait around all day and follow her with no diaper, because they will not put my child through that again. Grrr.
But the good news is, she won't get a shot at her 9 month check up. I combined the 2 appointments instead of making 2 trips, so her appointment is 12-4-06 so she won't be 9 mos until the 13th. *phew* .I need to calm down lol.

that's insane!!!!

yesterday they had this long plastic bag with a piece cut out in the shape of a vagina. There was an adhesive on the opening so it wouldn't slip.
She peed in it a little bit, but she had vasoline on and it made it slip.

medical answer that, my doctor doesn't do cathaders due to the pain. It's cruelty.

yes, very cruel. I cried all the way home after that appointment. I wish my doctor wouldn't believe in that, sheesh. Other than that we really like him.

Shocked damn there they go with that unneccessary medical intervention again - listen doc people (babies included) can pee with out medical assistance ffs.

If they won't give you a tub then use a clean jar or small tupperware pot and give them that instead and tell them they are not putting a catheter anywhere near your baby.

i finally got it through her head that .I wasn't allowing them to do that again, so .I'm gonna go in and get a sterile jar from them. But .I made it loud and clear that they will never put a catheter in my daughter again.

Why do they take urine samples from babies? Is that a normal thing they do, like the vaccines? Confused

Yes. They test the urine for infections. Uti's or bladder infections. They might also test the sugar levels.

But my doctor didn't freak because .Nana only pee'd a lil bit in the bag. He said "we'll just try again next time, no biggie."

i think it's beacause baba's can't tell us if it burns when they pee. Or if their kidneys are hurting them... Confused

Wow, weird. When do they start doing that? I really think .I'd cry if they tried to stick a catheter in .Aly. I can't even watch when they stick those needles in her.

She is a cutie! I do not blame you, I would be pissed off too, I would have told her to bend over and I would put a catheter in her, or him and they would not enjoy it!

Hi...My name is tracy..I kinda lurk around on here until I really feel I have something to say..Anyway, i'm surprised they even take urine from such a small child unless there is a problem..None of my 3 little ones ever had to give a urine sample..In any event, no matter what the medical procedure, you can tell them not to do it..It is your right..My oldest son had gotten the flu at 2 mos. Old and the doctors at the er had a hard time getting an iv in (they kept telling me that he didn't "look" deyhdrated and sent him home..This time I told them we weren't leaving until they told me what was wrong with my baby, as he was at this point weighing less than his birth weight)...Anyway, they kept trying to draw blood from him and it was just torture..They finally got enough to determine that he was, indeed, very dehydrated and admitted him, got the i.V in and everything...Then when we were in his room and filling out the necessary paperwork, the doctor decided they wanted more blood right then..I had enough and was crying at that point when the person giving me the paperwork told me that I had the right to refuse treatment for my son...I asked the nurse if it was absolutely necessary at that point that he needed blood drawn right then and she said no, so I told her that it could wait til tomorrow..They weren't going to stick him again until it was necessary...Anyway, any tests that you feel are unnecessary, you can refuse....They can complain about it, but that is about it...The lead testing (where they have to draw blood from a vein, rather than the finger prick is the worst)..Because we were at a very low risk for lead poisoning and because one of my older children had already had the lead test done, I refused it for the others (circumstances had not changed, so there was no greater risk of exposure)..You just have to use your judgment...Sorry so long, I just hate it when doctors feel they have the right to put a baby who can't express their feelings yet through pain for too many tests that are unnecessary..
