Hello,

i'm new on this forum. I'm a 26 years old guy from holland which have some strange complaint for about 6 year. They say its about chronical hyperventilation and axiety. When my complaints started I only was sometimes dizzy, felt very unreal and was afraid of dying. After the dcotor gave me some sleeping aid and anti-dizziness drug it al stayed the same. Then after a while I got a chronical heade ache which was in the center of my head just above my nose and in the corners of my eyes (also just beside the nose).

After a while the doctor decided to gave me antidepressants (paxil, paroxetine). Since then my live changed. When I first took them I was with dad and my sister and they were laughing at me because I was talking so stupid! That was a little bit funny but what happened after that was terrible. Instead of the headache above my nose I got a tingling, numbded painful burning sensation from my ears till my nose. Afther half a year I did quit those meds because of side effects. Now, about 5 years later I still have this feeling in my head 24/7. Now I sometimes have the feeling that in my head that a vain that was blocked or so gets open and that blood flows again. (this is the best way to describe it I think)

because of all this the doctor wanted me to use paxil again, I was terribly against it but after a few times I decided maybe its going to make my life a bit better. The paxil didnt work and the first 3 weeks of starting again were a hell, despite to that I continued the meds. The paxil didnt work so I got luvox (fluvoxamine) instead, which I built up till 250 mg a day without good effects.

Now my psychiatrist put me on zyprexa (olanzapine) since two weeks. The first week only 2,5 mg, since past week 5 mg. Since 1,5 week I am downgrading the luvox as well, I am now on 50 mg a day. My dodctor now suggets to upgrade the zyprexa and augment with clomimpramine. Is this a good idea? I now the luvox had interactions so its logical to quit the luvox.

Could these headaches really be a sympton of anxety? I am afraid its because of something different, like maybe me body cannot convert tryptofan to 5htp or so or mayeb I are oversensitive to things. I notice in the winter I always feel much worse. Even when its cloudy or sunny I notice the difference. I'm so sensitive to weather.

What do you guys advice, what can I do to this sensitivity. Are the meds a good idea? What are other causes you think?

Thank for your reply.

Possible Migraine Attacks
Hello,

The dizziness, unreal feeling, numbness all sound like a type of migraine headache. Only thing is, you say they are going on all the time which leads me to believe this may be migraine headache that is caused by something having to do with your heart. I suffered from migraines for years - couldn't see, numbness, a heavy feeling in my head. Went to cardiologist, turns out I have mitral valve prolapse syndrome, or floppy valve. Heart problems can cause migraines, dizziness and anxietyNot serious - but worth checking out and seeing what you can do to be more healthy. Also, anxiety attacks are not uncommon for people with migraines. You can't see, feel dizzy - its a scary feeling and perfectly normal.
Over medicating from your regular doctor is not good. I would see a specialist, a neurologist first, to rule anything else out. Then get heart checked.

Change in climate?
You mentioned your changes during a change in the weather. I have followe weather now for 11 years and also a volunteer National Weather Service Storm Spotter. Just wanted to let you know that I know of what I speak.
There is somethng called "Barametric Pressure". When certain eliments are in place, that pressure willl either rise or fall. Many, and I mean many people respond vrey badly to a change in this pressure. Headaches are the most common and ears aches are next plus major suinus problem. When is storm is coming, the pressure rises. Do you notice a diffence at that time? Humidity can also play a very big role in you health. Climate is and always will be a big health factor.
Just thought I would give you some of that information in case it might ring a bell.

Hope this helps,
Carrie
