Well the good news about "weight" is that it's only been 8 days since brianne was born and I am down 30 pounds!!! Breastfeeding really does work! My appetite is large too. Smile the bad news is that brianne went to the doctor's today and she was only 7 pounds 2 ounces. Her birth weight was 7 lbs. 9 oz. And when she left the hospital she was 6 lbs. 13 oz. Is it normal for her to still be so small? At the doctors today she grew and inch. She was 19 1/2 inches when she was born and today she was 20 1/2 inches. I try to feed her every 2 hours but sometimes she doesn't want to eat for 3 1/2 or 4 hours... I'm so afraid that she is being mal-nourished since she isn't gaining weight very quickly. Should I be worried that she doesn't want to eat as often as they say she should? She is having regular poops and pees. That's a good sign right?

P.S. Her bilirubin went down to 10.5 today Smile yay!! The doctor said she is going to be fine Cool

Her weight is completely normal! So is worrying about it.

Feed her when she is hungry. If she has normal diapers, she is more than fine. It doesn't sound like her doctor is worried at all.

Plus, she isn't malnourished, she is growing!

As long as she's gaining, she should be fine. Some babies gain faster, and some gain a bit slower. And that will change as she grows....Maybe she's going to grow slow now, but when she hits x months, she may speed up. And congrats her bilirubins are going down!
