Red Blood In Stool
Posted: 02-02-04 02:41am

I have had red blood in my stool for about 3 weeks now. I feel sharp pains in anus when I have a bowel movement. There are blood streaks in my stool and blood on tissue paper when I wipe. My feces is hard and sumtimes lumpy. I'm only 15... Should I be worried about cancer or anything as serious?

It sounds like you have a hemorrhoid, which can be very painful but is not a problem you need to be worried about.

There are plenty of over the counter hemorrhoid creams which will help to resolve the problem over a 1 to 2 week period.

I would also suggest avoiding too much walking or exercise for a couple of weeks and changing your diet to include easily digested soft foods.

It is best to use water to clean up after a bowel motion rather than wiping until the problem settles down.

I am a 44 yr old female, recently diagnosed with colon cancer. I had a small amt. Of bright red bleeding for 4 mo. Before I finally got help, it was cancer. Never ever think bright red, and small amts. Are nothing. See a Dr. If they tell you its hemmorhoids, dont fel embarrased, just be glad they didn't tell you what they told me, "it's cancer"
