Q: Sex of Your Child

The hospital where I stay now have signs up apparantly over the maternity hospital stating they no longer tell you the sex of your baby in ur ultrasound scans, "dont be offended when we do not give you the sex of your baby",

due to someone suing the hospital as they told her the wrong sex of her child.

Am under the asumption anyway the hospitals when telling you the sex of your baby dont give you 100% assurance anyway...

When I finally do get pregnant id like to know the sex of my unborn child for preparation reasons only...... But does anyother maternity hospitals do this, and is it legal not to supply you with the sex of the baby? Is there other way rounds this?

Are you going to have an amnio? Even though we aren't pregnant yet, my dh and I have been on and off discussing whether we want an amnio. I'm 36 and he is 35. We have looked up a lot of informtion on it. Because the amnio looks at the baby's genes, it can tell you the sex of the baby. Plus, it is more accurate than getting the sex from an ultrasound.

If you are planning to get an amnio, finding out the sex of the baby could be an added bonus. However, the risk of complications from the amnio might not justify doing it just to find out the sex of the baby.

I don't know about scotland, but it probably just depends on your ultrasound technician. They might tell you if you ask really nicely, lol. Or they might supply the ultrasound to your doctor and s/he tells you.

Well, it sounds like they got sued, but I have never heard of that around here. They may take pictures and share them with your doctor. Your doctor may be able to tell you what the sex is.
