Okay girls, i've got a question for you. As most of you know I do have a six month old daughter. Well before I had her I was on ortho-tricycline. I went off the pill due to losing my insurance and I was too lazy to go to planned parenthood. Well now I have my insurance back and I started taking ortho again since it was what I had always been used to. I get sick often and I know that antibiotics can lessen the effectiveness of birth control pills. And I also read that women who weigh more are at risk because it takes more hormones to block pregnancy in a heavier woman. So I am kinda scared I will get pregnant again. I have been considering and iud. Have any of you tried that or heard of anyone who has? I was considering the shot, but I do not need to gain any more weight! Hahaha I am still trying to lose the weight from my pregnancy. I've heard that an iud is good for like 5 years. But it could fall out and you may not ever know....Any suggestions??

Have you ever thought about the patch, i'm not sure if it's works the same as the pill or if you would run into the same problems. Sorry i've never even learned about an iud cause i'm a needle phobic!

I also was looking at the patch, but it would be so nice to just not have to worry about anything. They basically just insert it and forget about it for 5-10 yrs.

Larry's sister in law went on the shot the 5 year plan and not to freak you out but she got really really fat. I mean she looks really bad. I am on orthotricyclin and I am on other medications and I am still fine. But I am ortotricyclin low because the high messed with my stomach. And another thing I was on the patch and I had it on my butt and it would like catch the clothing pieces and it would start to look really nasty. Well the first time I changed it I went swimming and it came off. Not so good, I dont trust it. Your choice!!

Well I am glad you mentioned that about the patch!!! I am really considering the iud, but my grandma keeps saying bad things about it. She says it can rupture your uterus and easy to get pregnant?! But then again my g-ma is old!!! So I guess I will just continue to look info up on the net. But thanks for the info girls!

God I am so stressed out!!! Crying or Very sad my insurance company won't cover an iud for me!!! I am just so worried because I am on a 150 mg anti-depressant and an antibiotic and I am just worried about how much that effects the effectiveness of my pill!!! My doc knows I am on the pill when he prescribed them, but I heard it can still make it less effective!!

Have u got implanon over there? Its a rod that is inserted into your arm and lasts for 3 years, it is the most effective contraceptive that we have here, antibiotics, vomiting and diorear cant affect it cause it is a slow release hormone that is released right into your body constantly, and it has a 99% accuracy rate when inserted properly

I think that if a doctor knew that you were on the pill and prescribed you those things than you should be ok. But emotionally are you ok? I think that you shouldnt listen to what other people say that maybe just either call the doctor that prescribed them to you or another doctor. Regardless I think that you should just stick with the pill and everthing will be fine..But that is just my take on this whole thing!!
