Q: Lump Down There, Plz Help!

Hi everybody -- let me first explain where it is. The lump is not exactly down there, but on the inner side of my leg right along the bikini line. I'm really worried. There is no color. Its just a lump about 3cm by 3cm. When I pinch it, I feel something something like a ball under my skin. It is very painful and sometimes I feel the pain run down through my entire leg (inner side of my leg only).
My friends told me it might be due to sitting too much at work, or walking too much, or from stress.
I went to my gyno doctor yesterday and she wasnt sure what it is. She said it might be an infection due to a hair follicle, or somthing that needs to be removed surgically (a cyst??). And she prescribed augmentin (for infection). But its strange because I just recently finished a 1-week course of antibiotic for another infection.
Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Somtimes these lumps can be caused by staph infections.
Shaving can cause them by getting a cut and then germs get into it.
They can be extemely painful and you do not want it to spread.

I agree also that the hair follicles can get clogged too. Sometimes they need to be drained by a Dr. You can put hot compresses on it evey hour or so. It should help it somewhat.

Also, certain types of antibiotics only work for certain strains of bacteria. You would't take an antibiotic that's recommended for treatment of strep throat for an infection in your lungs or for a cyst.

So even though you were on anitbiotics for a different illness, it may not cure or help erradicate the cyst you have on the inner thigh.

I hope she sceduled you a follow up apptn. Did you?

It takes a while for the medication to really start working.

Good luck on your recovery and hope the pain and lump goes away.

Linda

Great linda, thanks for all your input and support.
I do have a follow-up appt with my dr after 10 days so in about 1week from now. I will keep you posted. So far the lump is the same, and the pain also if not more.

Update..
Ok, I went back to the dr and of course the lump is still there. She said dont worry about it, it cant be harmful, and come back for another visit after 1 month!!!!
What should I do? Im so paranoid! The size is the same, the pain is less (only ocassional pain), and its on the inner side of my leg (on the bikini line).
Any advice?
