You can totally prevent cancer from adopting a vegetarian diet.

Ok I realize this is an old post but I can't let this stand. .N.O.T .T.R.U.E!

Nothing can totally prevent cancer. Some cancers are caused buy things completly unrealated to diet and a heathy diet will not help. Lung cancer Can (but not always) be caused by smoking if you are one of those multi pack/per day smokers you will get lung cancer at some point (you may have to live to be 150 before it happens or you may die form something else before it gets the chance to develop) even if you ate a vegetarian diet.

A healthy diet can prevent the chances of cancer but not eliminate them.

Sorry but there are no across the board symptoms of cancer the symptoms vary depending on the type of cancer.

Same with the latest developments there are too many to say just go to some of the leading cancer sites (think American Cancer Society) and check it out.

Thanks, terpamber. There is no catch-all / cure-all and it's dangerous to think there is. A vegetarian diet might help prevent some cancers, but to make a blanket statement that it's a panacea isn't right. It's always best to adopt a healthy lifestyle as early as possible and maintain it. But for now at least there is a randomness to cancer that makes it fall outside the realm of 100% anything. If you really want to avoid cancer I would recommend A: a healthy diet/lifestyle. B: do research on what causes cancer and avoid those things (it's not easy, the world is full of carcinogens) C: keep or develop a positive outlook on life. It might not help you avoid cancer but it could help you deal with it if it ends up being in your cards. And of course it makes life more enjoyable in the meantime.

Hi, I just went to that link and found, not surprisingly, that it's a commercial site selling its own products. Of course there's nothing the matter with boosting the immune system, but I need to point out the following text, taken directly from that site.

"The information has not been evaluated by the FDA or by 4Life Research. We do not claim that 4Life products directly prevent, or cure any disease. We do not suggest that anyone should replace traditional medical treatment with our products... We encourage you to use common sense in your expectations in consuming any nutritional product... Seek advice from your health care professional regarding the applicability of any information, opinion or recommendation for diagnosis or treatment of any symptoms or medical condition. Statements about products and health conditions have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. Products of 4Life Research are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. "

It's one thing for the FDA not to evaluate something, but a health site that doesn't even evaluate its own products? Always read the fine print with ANYthing, especially regarding your health.
