When did you start using a dummy??? Lachlan is using one only occasionaly when he wont settle but he spits it out pretty quickly. He'll be 3 weeks tomorrow. Is that too soon to start using one???

I went to the shops this week and I felt like people were looking at me as if I was a bad mother for giving a new born a dummy, is it wrong or are people just judgemental?

Here it's normal to see babies with pacifiers. Trey did not take one untill he was about 3 months old, he would only suck on my pinky finger. Laughing Laughing my hands were so dry from washing them every 2 seconds. It's fine to give him one if you want.

How r u enjoying being a mom jillie? I'm so happy he's finally here, I know how long you waited for him.

We gave one to finn when he was 1 day old while we were still in the hospital, he took to it right away. He's 3 and a half weeks now and not overly attached to his binky. Babies like to suck, I don't see any problem with pacifiers.

Kudos to the mommies who don't use noonies!! Cuz let me tell you, a paci is the only thing that will setlle .Nana when she's in her worst mood!!

I've been weaning her off of it. By taking it out of her mouth once she's asleep, and making it a last offer...But don't worry about what people think.

Oni couldn't take a noonie until she was about 3/4 months, her tongue is huge and her mouth didn't have enough room for both a tongue and a noonie. So we'd have to hold it for her.. Rolling Eyes

but she doesn't use a regular paci. I give her only an orthopedic one. I refuse to have my child's teeth be bucked. It's totally craazy that little 3 year olds have bucked teeth and slowed speech because of a paci...

So yea, a paci is ok, in moderation...

My son took one when he was in the hospital still, although he hated it and spit it out so we tried this different nipple looking one and he takes it good and only likes that kind of binky.

He only wants it when he goes night night though, or when he's sick with the flu or has a cold Sad

I gave .Melia a soothie when she was at her first dr's appt so that the pedi could hear her heartbeat....She took to it right away. One day while we were out I had for got mine and my friend had one still in the package because her son will only take one type and .Melia took to that one right away (it's an orthopedic one) and wouldnt' take the other ones anymore.

It's a lifesaver at night when she pulls her I am really tired so I going to cry until I fall asleep. Give her the .D.A.M.N soothie Shocked

Well I dont feel so bad now. My friends use them here but it's the people that are strangers to you that give you bad looks! Lachlan only uses one maybe twice a day when he's grumpy but otherwise he goes to sleep without it.

Jess - I love it soooooo much!!!! He's such an angel and I just love holding him and staring at him! We had a rough night last night but once he was asleep he slept for 5 hours!!!!

Joseph never took to them, I bought like 20 of em lmao never used one. I just bought 2 for my lil girl in case she doesnt take to them as well. I gave away josephs that were still new. If they can suck it I say let em just as long as they dont have it at 4 and 5 years old

you're breastfeeding right? I want to give brianne a pacifier but I heard terrible stories about nipple confusion... Did melia have trouble latching after starting to use one? How many weeks old was she?

No confustion....She was a about 5 days old when we started using one.....I have been told that the nipple confustion comes when they are given a bottle....They have to work much harder to suckle from the breast vs the bottle...But I dont' know if this is true. .

Yes is am breast feeding.

I said the same thing.
I couldn't breastfeed the first night due to my infection. So they only gave her glucose water.
She did have trouble latching on. But that' prob because I didn't get to immedietly breastfeed after birth. Crying or Very sad

i just drizzled some formula on my nipple and she started suckin away!!!
