First, I want to comment on the "dissolves in water" trick. If you like seeing neat experiments, try this. Put a piece a broccoli in water for half an hour. It doesn't dissolve! Does that mean my body doesn't digest food???

Of course a piece of brocoli won't dissolve in water! What you think the water is a blender?

That's why you have teeth and you chew the brocoli first before you swallow it and get digested in your tummy!! hahaha

Vitamins ~ the Usana Question...
I am so laughing. Most of what I read makes me giggle. It is a shame though with so much ignorance.

I have no clue about USANA vitamens. I have not taken them.

I do know that liquid whole food supplements can be awesome and yes even from MLM.

Ignorance about MLM is rampent. A pyramid scheme is simply a money pyramid that has no product. Illegal pyramids are everywhere, but legitimate mlm companies are just that and fully regulated by FTC and the production of vitamins and what is said about them is regulated by the evil FDA.

Of course big pharma has the big say in all of our lives, including insurance, our elected politicians, our laws ~ can you imagine? According to the FDA and law the only thing that can cure a disease is a drug!

That is a real hoot. When in fact, for the most part our bodies do all of that work with the food, water and rest (yes we can get some help from some meds and our bodies will have to compensate for some of the damage that comes with them ~ ie I would take a anti-biotic, but have to deal with helping to replace some of the good bacteria and such that gets killed off ~ hmmm, time and some supplementation will help that too).

Ignorance is everywhere on mlm. Anyone calling USANA or Vision for Life (v4L is how it is know on-line) a pyramid scheme is just ignorant of the facts.

Nearly every business and institution is a pyramid ~ a President (owner or body of stock holders), a few vp's and/or directors, a few more managers and then a bunch of the work force at the bottom. The biggest difference is that mlm levels the playing field and allows people with good people skills to do really well.

liquid supplements derived from whole food sources really make a difference. I have taken store vitamins for years and I think they are pretty good. But I must say that once I discovered a good liquid supplement, my whole health changed for the better, as did my wife's.

MLM (going back and forth here Very Happy ) is not an industry, is not a scam, but a chosen form of distribution. It cost a lot of money to put products into distribution which includes advertising, shipment to distribution warehouses, then to stores with all the overhead ~ thus the MARGIN must be very high to compensate. MLM allows for different distribution. This puts the money saved into compensation plans and in many cases better products ~ people are not generally going to keep coming back without results and companies are not going to last in mlm without a great product. There are only a few more than 10 years old. But the rates of all types of new businesses failing are not that much different.

Drink your vitamins for best absorption (90% plus is much better than most pill forms that will give you about 20%). However, some capsules and some pills will break down adequately.

Jeez, I even read a doctor saying we don't need supplements if we are eating a lot of fresh fruits and veggies. Well, that may be true if you are eating a LOT of them and know their source, but who knows that these days. Even our Gov. Health department has finally come to the conclusion we should supplement ~ after years of evidence and failing health stats ~ and yes, processed foods taking a larger role in our lives. This doctor states the truth, but in the context of what most of us have access to and what we really know, I know I am going to take my supplements. I know have better blood pressure, better cholesteral readings, feel better and never get sick ~ I used to get infections nearly every year from complications of seasonal allergies ~ but no more!

I know, I know, only one case. But that case is important to me ~ after all it is me!

Now, what about you? Dont fall for pyramid schemes, but get really good supplements from legitimate high quality MLM companies and you will be a happyjack too!

Usana Supplements
If you really want to know what you're getting in your nutritional supplements and if it's as good to get the in-expensive ones, take a look at a book called "Comaparative Guide To Nutritional Supplements." It shows you in a graph what the supplements out there actually provide. Then he rates supplements out of 5 stars. Personally, if I'm going to take a supplement, I want it to do for me what it says and from what I've read, a whole lot are just a waste of money. A company such as Usana is a top 5 star company which also complies to "Good Manufacturing Practices". If I'm going to bother to spend money on & take supplements, I want to know exactly what I'm taking and that it is not a waste of my money.

I have not tried Usana vitamins. As for the comment about asking your physician in regard to taking supplements, most allopathic physicians no next to nothing about vitamins & nutrition. Whereas a naturopathic doctor, who has studied vitamins & herbs, would be an excellent source of guidance. I work at a medical college & their training on this topic is sorely lacking.

Like all multi level companies their products are overpriced for what you get. I have looked at all their literature and they do have good products, but they are over priced. I own a health store in canada, and can tell you, you are paying for all the people above your retailer too. Buy from a local independent store!

Want a good quality supplement - call us at the store speak to steve or shauna.

Panacea is a awesome product - here's the webpage..

Edit

Yeah right. If not paying the people above the line, just pay the store owner who gets hefty commissions of every products sold in the store plus advertisers and promoters and salesmen. Your choice.

Well, it is difficult to get some people to understand that the money it cost to advertise, put into distribution, provide a profit for the traditional brick and mortar store (and all the overhead associated with said store) can actually be diverted to sometimes better products and certainly compensation plans.

I will admit that not all products and all compensation plans are the same or even good. But most of the companies that last, do so because they at the very least offer a reasonable product and reasonable compensation plan. The range goes from not so good to extraordinary, as anything else. Many products on the store shelves offer synthetics and must try very hard to maintain the highest profit margin they can. While the same may be true of some network marketing companies, the good ones that last offer great value. Ignorance is prolific and we all run into it every day. Its all okay! Life is good!

Usana Vitamins
I am following this forum with much interest. USANA vitamins are recommended by Dr. Christianne Northrup, a highly respected OB/GYN who has some marvelous books out. They are the only vitamins she recommends.
I'm going to give them a try.

Hey, Good for you SANDINMYSHOES!

Now, I use something very different. But I say go for it. Those that disparage MLM (or network marketing) do so for many reasons. Some, simply out of ignorance, some because of a bad experience ~whether that be of their own making or being misguided by some leadership or having false expectations and not treating it like a business. Others disparage it because they have a business and network marketing is certainly becoming more and more competition. Though it is a growing method of distribution (technically it is not an industry, but a real choice of distribution in conjunction with independent associates that do the advertising or exposure of the product, if you will), I don't think it will ever replace the brick n mortar store, but it will become even much greater than today as a means of creating income for more and more people.

As long as there are great products being produced, more people will learn how to do this kind of business more effectively. It is not so much that it is difficult, it is in fact simple (not easy), but simple things to do are also simple not to do and most people with job mentalities find it difficult to change ~ but many more are doing so. Still sadly, many do not yet have the leadership they need, but with perserverance and if they follow the company lead (which is all most need to do), they will make it.

On the other hand, it is still all about the products. There are many product users for USANA. They have been around quite a while and are known for having great products.

I have not tried them. Although, I use Vision for Life liquid based nutricueticals. At www.v4l.com/thesecret you will find out about what is called P3 or Power of 3. It just happens to have come from a formulation of three different liquid products that they found could be combined, and still have all the impact of the original. I took the originals and loved them, but I was glad to see them come all together in one bottle now. They have recommended dosages (rather than the more is better syndrome of some companies), they do have all the vitamens, minerals, trace minerals and what I really love is the Okanawan coral calcium, plus they have 35 different vegetables, seavegies, fruits and exotic fruits (such as noni, mangostein, etc). But all are micronized and in liguid form are easily absorbed. Pill forms do not absorb well. Capsules are certainly better than pills in my opinion. However, V4L has MD's, nutritionist and other alternative docs endorsing and using, as well as doing the business (recognizing the real world of trading time for dollars is not necessarily the best way for all).

But either way. I have used all kinds of nutrients over the years and even when I was not in business I have found that what I got from Network Marketing companies was generally superior (not all by any means). I have been using V4L for several years and I love the products.

For a while I was using a national chain specialty store and was very disappointed to be overly stimulated which was their way of making you 'feel the difference' in my opinion ~ however, the effect of the stimulants (though i believe they were from good sources) I did not want them and could not find any of their products that did not have these stimulants in them. Gee, a little is actually good for you, but if it interferes with my sleep, then they have goNe to far. C what I mean? Seriously, all I have said, I believe in my heart to be true. And if others like those chain products, than fine. I am of the mind that as long as people are taking something reasonable, they are better off than those that do not supplement at all. I think this is finally getting through to more and more people.

I would like to know how you feel about the USANA in a couple of months.
Please let me know . I hope that is okay to put that there. I do not mean to violate anything and that is my freefor all email, so make sure you put remember usana in your email subject. Very Happy

Re: Try This
Very Happy I understand this if you are addressing a particular issue. However, for the most part the human body is quite robust if given proper nutrition. There is a misconception that everyone needs something different. This is only true if there is a serious problem. Otherwise, we can all do well with a comprehensive supplement and our body is smart enough to use what it needs and through off the rest. This does not mean we are good to overdose on every vitamen ~ we can actually use the generally accepted scales ~ however, we should all take a little extra c and ensure we are getting good quality calcium with mag. Many tend to over-complicate it all.

Most common ailments will indeed respond well if we treat our bods with common sense: good quality supplements, including minerals & trace minerals (all naturally derived, of course), good sleep (must dream), good water and moderate exercise (many will overdue this last one too ~ when there is no need to wear out your body and joints on hard repetitive stuff).

Funny, how common sense is not so common. But again, if one is facing some serious stuff, they should seek out an alternative open minded doc. It seems that most doctors without alternative treatment training are too ready to write harmful prescriptions at the drop of a hat. Herbalists? Yeah, I say give it a go if you have an issue.

Cheers.

Usana Tested!
I've been using the Essentials by Usana(Mega Anti-oxydants and multi-minerals) for five days now. I have been suffering from insomnia all of my life. It can take up to 4 hours before I fall asleep, and no matter the amount of ''sleep'' I have, I never have energy when I get up. It's been 5 days now, it takes me less than 1 hour to fall asleep and I feel good when I wake up. There has been no change in my diet, nor in my habits, and the quantity of ''bed time'' has not changed. This is the first time in my life I experience such a thing. I've tried Centrums, and I can assure you the centrums are now in my trash can. Usana can be a little bit expensive, yes, but it does work for me, and that is priceless. I want what's best for my body. Oh and my hair is thicker also. I'll keep on observing any further changes, and i'll post new comment to give you a follow-up. Say what you want to say about ''so called pyramids'', I'm trying the Usana brand, and so far, it works.

But I do my homework on just about anything I purchase, definately well versed when it comes to my health. Like everyone else- typically I say that, we want our bodies to age correctly. We don't want to break down too quickly so mostly all of use look for those things which makes sense. There is credable information about nutrition and how it relates to diseases and overall health. I think supplements are great, but caution should be taken to just any type and more importantly self evaluation. In other words do you have a good diet? are you getting the things you need in it? are you on prescrip meds now? Be aware of these things before you go just injesting anything off the shelf. Know your possible interaction. Also never NEVER start anything at the recommended level ie take (6) of these daily............just take one a day for a week and slowly build up that is to SIX if you really think you need to. Now on to MLM- who really cares about this? DOES the product work is the main issue correct? So lets kick that to the side completely...........its a useless topic here. What we want is to focus on the subject.........USANA. I'd like to address 1st the benefits of liquid supplements...........forgive me if I'm wrong but doesnt absorbtion take place in the intestines? Not the stomach? if so wouldnt that preclude liquids or that is the things that would be eatin up in the solution that would be subject to stomach acid? And hasn't it been redundantly proven that enteric coating is a must? unless those particular vitamins, nutrients or whatever would not be effected by the stomach acid/byle ect? So with that said, what can Liquids do for any of us? Back to USANA, from what I've read I may try them or maybe the other highly toted Extend Life..........these both look to be based on the information available viable...............and I get my information for searches on the net not just for vitamins and supplements but for the treatment of health issues and what is recommended for treatment. And as a disclaimer Im not a MLM for anyone or anything just a common sense type person.

wow
so i just discovered this site because i was looking for a multivitamin. i was looking up usana because it got #1 on a report but i felt fishy about that because its a MLM and i know how dirty they are. after reading this thread. i noticed that all the members that said that its overpriced and yada had over 5 post. and all the people that said usana is the stuff to buy and declare how good it is only have 1 post. wow

this just makes me hate usana more. the "dealers" going on forums just to say how good it is. just making an account to make 1 post. notice how they all have 1 post and the account was created on the same day as the post.
im going to have to ask my doctor or nutrition teacher and see what they say.

so i only read the first page before posting my comment but now since ive read pages 2 and 3.
this thread is just loaded with usana workers and there are no more non-usana people to comment on here. sort of worthless to read one side.

i had a friend who went into usana until he found out how crappy it was. he had an account to this usana site that gave ways to get customers. it was a long list of dirty tricks such as..
Going to any store such as target wearing a suit and buying something.
then you would talk to the cashier. he will probably ask you why you are so dressed up and you say you run your own company and work on your hrs. or you can say something in the lines of "you look like a sharp young man, would you like a job?" if he doesn't ask about your suit.

its ridiculous how many people are doing this, one time i was walking at school and some guy goes up to me and says that. then LATER I SEE HIM IN MY CLASS HAHAHA. yeah big balling going to a community college class.

another student in one of my classes says he works for a nutritional place. he says that he can work whenever he wants and he educates people about nutrition. i keep asking him what is the place called but he doesn't want to say it and brings up another subject. he says he can arrange a meeting for me with his boss. my respect for him went down since i knew that he worked for usana and was trying to fool me into this scam. i know about 3 people who got tricked into this scam and it was their friends who got them in. they are no longer friends. to get far in this business you need to be willing to do anything to sign people up and get their money.

i will never pay money to make money. realjobs don't require u to pay upfront.

What follows is information I’ve found out after I started looking into USANA at a friend’s request. I saved it to give to them and was never planning on posting it until someone in one of the message boards said that showing USANAs products for what they really are is the best way to protect people from signing up with this lying company. Most of this I combed from message boards but I’ve double checked statements and found them to be true. This is Version 1.1 because I might be making updates as I find out new things. I encourage everyone to copy and paste this on any message board where people are trying to promote USANA with either false or illogical claims addressed in this document.

USANA - Admits they’re not Certified by the FDA for Pharmaceutical GMPs
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/896 264/000110465907036486/a07-10873_110q.htm
“Although the FDA has not historically imposed GMP standards specific to the dietary supplement industry, we have manufactured our dietary supplement products, on a voluntary basis, in a manner we believe is in accordance with the standards of the FDA’s pharmaceutical model GMP’s. When the new GMP regulation specific to dietary supplements is adopted, we may be required to expend additional capital and resources on manufacturing controls in the future in order to comply with the law.” – USANA
------------------------------------------ ----------
So NO ONE is checking to see if USANA manufactures to Pharmaceutical GMPs and we’re supposed to take their word for it. Here are some further examples of how trust worthy USANA is
- Myron Wentz never informed shareholders that he renounced his US Citizenship and is instead a citizen of St.Kitts.
- The CFO Gill Fuller claimed to be an active CPA when his licence had lapsed back in 1986 and it is ILLEGAL to wrongfully claim to be an active CPA within the State of Utah.
- VP of Research and Development Timothy Wood said he had a Ph.D. in Biology when it’s really in Forestry.
- Denis Waitley lied and claimed to have a Masters from The Naval Postgraduate School despite having never even attended the school. He also calls himself Dr. Denis Waitly despite the fact his “Ph.D.” is from the UNACREDITED “La Jolla University” and seems to have “misplaced” his thesis despite the fact he’s referenced it several times in his writings. In addition, USANA is unable to provide any evidence that he ever attended “La Jolla University.” Not that it would really matter considering it’s a diploma mill anyway.
- Ladd McNamara, a USANA sales associate and promotional speaker, never mentioned the fact he had to renounce his licence to practice medicine in Georgia in order to avoid being prosecuted and that he lost his license in Ohio for failing to inform them of this disciplinary action against him. He has never been licensed in California where he currently lives and continues to refer to himself as a doctor. He has made the false claim of being doctor at USANA functions and in advertisements as well.
Is this a company you want to take the word of?

USANA and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)
http://www.usana.com/dotCom/company/manufa cturing/index
“In several countries around the world, supplements are more highly regulated than in the United States. In Australia, for example, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), which regulates dietary supplements, mandates that manufacturers follow a set of GMP identical to pharmaceutical GMP in the United States. As an Australian supplier, USANA is regularly inspected and audited by the TGA to ensure that we meet their GMP standards. Most recently, USANA was audited in June 2006 by the TGA and passed with ease.” – USANA
------------------------------------------ ----------
USANA wants us to believe that they manufacture to Pharmaceutical GMPs because the TGA investigates them regularly and they want us to believe THEIR word when they say that the TGA is more highly regulated than the FDA’s regulation of Pharmaceutical GMPs. Following USANAs line means that ANY product that’s listed with the TGA can also be said to be up to the FDA’s Pharmaceutical GMPs. What’s an example of another Supplement that rivals USANA in this right?
Centrum. That’s right, Centrum. You can’t get more “off the shelf” than that.

University of Alberta – USANAs Label Contains “Pseudo-Science”
http://www.ualberta.ca/~csps/JPPS9(1)/Loeb enberg.R/tablets.htm
“Usana Health Science Inc.
Salt Lake City, UT Essentials Multi Mineral 84
Yes
9961 + Information not available Laboratory tested for guaranteed quality
Meets specifications for potency, uniformity, and disintegration, as appropriate

“One product claimed that it “meets specifications for potency, uniformity and disintegration as appropriate.” However no specifications of “appropriate” were given.”
CONCLUSIONS
This study showed that there are products sold on the Canadian market which use statements on their label which are difficult to define. However, such terms and statements seem to be used to add pseudo-scientific and unjustified value to the product; such statements should be avoided. Only recognized test methods should be used on the labels. Dosage form and active ingredients need to be matched with their intended therapeutic use to ensure that the active is released at it site of absorption. Today’s customers cannot assume that the product they buy will have an acceptable quality with regard to the disintegration behaviour.”
------------------------------------------ ----------
The little plus sign up there means USANA did pass the test and fully disintegrated. Whoopee! Want the name of a few other companies and products that that passed?

- Centrum
- Safeway ( A grocery chain)
- Loblaws (Another grocery chain)
- Jamieson
- Natural Factors
- Bayer

You can get all of these products at much lower prices than anything from USANA. Melaleuca also passed this test as well.

USANA is NOT Certified by the USP
http://www.usp.org/USPVerified/dietarySupp lements/supplements.html
------------------------------------------ ----------
On USANAs labels you’ll notice it says “Meets USP guidelines for potency, uniformity, and disintegration.” However if you go to the link above you’ll notice their name is not included in the list of USP Verified Dietary Supplements. Why? Because the USP DOES NOT certify USANA! They used phrasing to mislead consumers into believing that the USP is backing USANA when it’s not.

USANA IS Certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF)
http://www.nsf.org/Certified/consumer/list ings_results.asp?KeyWords=&ProgramCode =DIETSUPP&CompanyName=&ProductName =&SearchType=QUICK&prog_add=N& prod_cnt=338&comp_cnt=21&ShowCompa ny=Y
------------------------------------------ ----------
About the only one that seems to certify USANA seems to be the National Sanitation Foundation. The National Sanitation Foundation has certified USANA for DIETARY SUPPLEMENT GMPs, NOT PHARMACEUTICAL GMPS. If you go through the NSF’s list you’ll see that Mannatech and K-Mart are also listed.

USANA Listed in the PDR
“USANA’s products are listed in the prestigious PDR” - USANA
http://healthandfreedom.tripod.com/_freedo m_fast_facts.pdf

------------------------------------------ ----------
For USANA “prestigious” must mean they paid a great deal because that’s all they had to do to have their product listed in the PDR. Below is a quote from Wikipedia discussing the controversies surrounding the PDR.
“Originally distributed as a promotional item, the PDR has come under recent scrutiny with the lack of reporting of updated and accurate drug dosages along with adverse drug effects. Often dosage information can be taken from phase 1 trial information where clinical drug information is incomplete, resulting in higher PDR-recommended dosages than therapeutically effective dosages for many medications. And since MOST OF THE INFORMATION IS TAKEN FROM THE DRUG DATA SHEETS GENERATED BY THE DRUG MANUFACTURERES, it is more likely to not include drug studies reporting the worst side-effect and adverse effect data.[1] This is opposed to evidence-based medicine or clinical reviewed material which examines all such data but is not contained within the PDR.
The PDR has also been criticized for its being paid for by the various pharmaceutical manufacturers that present medications within its pages. This criticism stems from the lack of special interest disclosure and the potential for guiding medical recommendations apart from evidence-based medicine. THE LACK OF MEDICAL EDITORIAL CAPACITY WITHIN THE PDR WHICH IS STANDARD IN THE REVIEW OF ALL SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE BY INFORMED SCIENTIFIC PEERS HAS ALSO BEEN CRITICIZED.
While proponents may argue that the controversies with the PDR may seem insignificant, critics site that in fact, most physicians and pharmacists rely on it in a bound, online or PDA version for drug dosaging and the lack of transparency in its formation most certainly leads to adverse patient outcomes.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physicians%2 7_Desk_Reference
The PDR publishes what they are told to publish by the companies that pay them to include their products in the PDR. There are several PDRs including one for “Non-prescription Drugs, Dietary Supplements and Herbs.” Why isn’t USANA listed in that PDR? Because they choose to have their information listed in the standard Pharmaceutical PDR. A company paying their fee to the PDR has the right to decide in which edition the information is published. USANA no doubt choose the Pharmaceutical one to give their product more “prestige” in an attempt to mislead people into believing that their product conforms to higher standards of quality but that is simply not the case. USANA was even warned about using the PDRs logo etc in their advertisements which is why USANA adjusted how they referred to the PDR in their promotional material. They even received a warning from the PDA.

USANA is Number 1 in the Comparative Guide for Nutritional Supplements
“USANA flagship Essentials and HealthPak 100 nutritional supplements rate 'best of the best' out of 1,600 products evaluated in Canada and United States.” – USANA
http://www.usana.com/dotCom/news/guide.jsp
------------------------------------------ ----------
This is a quote from USANAs web-site where they are referring to their rating in the Comparative Guide of Nutritional Supplements. In this guide there were a total of 4 products given the 5-Star Gold Standard.

USANA Essentials – Available only through USANA distributors.

Creating Wellness Alliance – Available through Chiropractors.

Douglas Laboratories – Available through Healthcare Providers.

TrueStar Health – Available through Health and Fitness Centres.

Surprisingly NONE of these products are in direct competition with one another since they’re sold through different avenues. Of most interest to us is the relationship between Nutrisearch’s Comparative Guide and USANA. Who are the editors that contributed to the Comparative Guide? You can find out right here - http://nutrisearch.ca/
Do your research on these people and you’ll find out the following.
• Lyle MacWilliams was a member of USANAs medical advisory board. How’s that for a 3rd party investigation? Don’t worry it gets worse.
• Dr.Colgane also worked as an advisory board member for USANA in the past and was a distributor for them as well. He is not a 3rd party source.
• Dr. Ray Strand is an advisory board member at USANA as well as having a wife who is a high ranking distributor.
o Dr. Ray Strand is on USANA’s advisory committee http://www.usana.com/dotCom/company/ag/mab
o His wife (Elizabeth Strand) has earned at least $1 million in commissions http://www.usana2day.com/media/File/Prospe cting%20page/Tools/CA/USANABusiness/CA%20H &F%20Newspaper.pdf
o You can see them pictured together in this report on page 12.
http://xobm.usana.com/forms/anz_hf_newspap er.pdf
Dr.Strand personally profits from USANA and is not a credible 3rd party source by ANY means. If you are one of Dr.Strands patience and he recommended USANA to you, I’d consider a lawsuit.
• Dr Robert Atkins we all know from the Atkins diet.
• Dr. Nicholas Perricone who is known for making outlandish claims backed by very little scientific research in order to sell books and products. It's not uncommon for his claims to be based on his own research which have not been published in medical journals and he supplies very little information about the nature of this research.
• Dr. Michael Murray is an N.D. (or Natural Doctor) not to be confused with an M.D. (or Medical Doctor). Not a big deal, but he really shouldn't use the title Dr in a situation where the average person would reasonably expect them to be a physician.
• Dr. Julian Whitaker claims to be board certified specialist in anti-aging medicine but he has never been certified in any specialty acknowledged by any sort of official board. He has no specialties recognized by either the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Medical Association.
• Earl Mindell is referred to as “Dr. Ear Mindell” despite he fact he has a Ph.D. not an M.D. and that Ph.D. isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on because it’s from Pacific Western University a known diploma mill. It is a unaccredited “distance-learning institution” where you give them money and they mail you your degree. Mindell made an ass of himself in the following investigative report of Goji Juice http://www.cbc.ca/marketplace/2007/01/goji .html
• Phyillis Balch has her CNC which is a certification she received from the American Association of Nutritional Consultants. You too can receive this certification if you pay $150 and pass an open book exam. This organization has previously given memberships to a DEAD cat once owned by Ben Goldacre and a dead English sheepdog owned by Rosemary Stanton.
• Richard Passwater is referred to as “Dr.Richard Passwater” despite the fact, surprise surprise, - HE ISN’T EVEN A DOCTOR. He's not even a PhD. He has his "degree" from a fake institution called Bernadean University which has NEVER had degree granting status.

What does Nutrisearch gain by publishing The Comparative Guide for Nutritional Supplements when it’s obviously so biased that no one in their right mind would trust it as a source for information? Money. USANA distributors buy up this book like crazy to show to everyone they can because it backs up their unsubstantiated claims that USANA is a top of the line product. I’d be willing to bet it’s available in the USANA Shop at their web-site. Of course, I can’t tell for sure because you have to be a USANA distributor to see what goes on in there.

Adding further insult to injury the Comparative Guide is non-Peer Reviewed so the above “experts” are the only ones who had any say in what was written. No one checked the work meaning the decision for what product topped the list was predominantly decided by those who are either biased, uneducated or both. Further to the point is the fact that the Comparative Guide relied exclusively on the product labels and NO analytical chemistry was done to determine the levels of vitamins indicated on products labels are actually in the pills or capsules (http://www.shotwellpr.com/pdf/HPCMultiple Vitimins0904.pdf)

Court Findings

"The judge cited two examples where Usana failed to refute Minkow's claims that its products were overpriced because they were not of better quality than other lower-priced brands. Usana's arguments were "hypertechnical statements representing differing interpretation of data,"
– Salt Lake Tribune Article
------------------------------------------ ----------
If USANA really had such a great product they would have been able to prove it in Court. Instead they had almost all of their claims against Minkow tossed out. What about the remaining one?
------------------------------------------ ----------
“But Usana also was facing an uncertain outcome with the Minkow litigation. In March, U.S. District Judge Tena Campbell tossed out four Usana claims against him. That left only the company's charge that Minkow was part of a larger effort to profit from a drop in the company's stock price. But court documents showed that Usana NEVER sued others who supposedly were part of the effort and it NEVER asked for an injunction, its only avenue for relief in the case.”
- Trading Markets.com
------------------------------------------ ----------
They did NOTHING. Why? I’d say it’s because they had nothing. If they moved forward I’m certain they would have lost this claim as well. The deals of the settlement are mostly confidential (between USANA and Minkow) but Minkow agreed to have nothing to do with USANA from now on so USANA got what they wanted and I’m certain Minkow got what he wanted $$$. Why else would USANA not take the opportunity to prove themselves in court? Most USANA defenders were shouting that Minkow was only in it for the money when this story began and to me this proves them right because USANA BOUGHT him off. What other explanation is there? They decided to let him go? Not bloody likely. Seems like Minkow was right about his claims against USANA but it also seems that to him being paid is more important than being right.

It's been awhile since I've posted to this particular thread. I see there are quite a few more posts since my last one.

First, to combat the accusation that all "positive Usana posts" are simply from distributors, I simply have not seen that. Yes, there are some distributors (myself included) out here, but I've seen several posts from non-distributors. Also, my intent is to simply get information out there on Usana and supplements in general. Whether or not anyone would purchase from me is not a concern. Simply do a Google on Usana and you'll find a distributor. Or, just go out to the company's site and purchase directly from them if you're concerned about people promoting for their own benefit.

Regarding the attacks upon the company...this affects your health how? It's very simple. If the supplements work for you, then take them. I used to have terrible allergies to cats and do not anymore. My daughter had a dairy allergy, but does not anymore. They work for my friends, family, customers, and myself. Oddly enough, the results have nothing to do with the company's business decisions or the fact that the company is a network marketing company. By the way, did you know Donald Trump recommends network marketing companies? And that Warren Buffet owns a network marketing company?

What it all comes down to is take what works for you.

Importance of any vitamin supplements
Vitamins supplements promote normal growth, provide proper metabolism, ensure good health and protect against certain diseases. Usana is required by the body in small amounts for metabolism, to protect health, and for proper growth. They usually help regulate metabolism, help convert fat and carbohydrates into energy, and assist in forming bone and tissue.

usana
I had been taking a multivitamin (one a day - very well respected brand) for years and then gave usana a try on the recommendadtion of a friend. I dont know how I survived without them! I have been on them for five years now and in five years have not had a cold, flu, allergy etc!!! I am overweight and have so much energy that I never had before. If its a choice between my phone bill and usana ... usana wins every time!!

4 year Eniva Vibe customer
I've taken an all-in-one supplement for 4 years called Eniva Vibe. It's not cheap at about $1 a day but it has a complete blend of vitamins and essential minerals plus fruit, vegetable, and green tea extracts that give it an antioxidant score of 153,000 certified by Brunswick Labs compared to Centrum with a score of 173. So yes, there is a difference and you get what you pay for.

It's also in a liquid form that is pre-digested and gets into your blood stream within 60 seconds compared to pills that often just give you a stomach ache.

Usana Healthpak or Essentials?
Usana is recommending the complete Healthpak that consists of mega antioxidants, multiminerals, active calcium plus and AO Booster. I was asked to take morning and night. Just wondering if the consumption is too much? There are all together 12 capsules for day and night. Is the Usana Essentials (Antioxidant & Multimineral) good enough? I don''t hv major health issues. Just need to maintain a healthy lifestyle with added supplements.
