...Looking for a doctor in the washington
dc area...Pl. Help...
All medical reports are normal per doctors
who are ignoring all sypmtoms. But based
on many symptoms (listed below), have made
some connections. Gone from doctor to
doctor but no help and health is
deteriorating with no sleep and I am very
concerned. No one is helping which
increases frustration and depression. No
tolerance for drugs
and have not taken them growing up as mom
used to be a social service homoepath.
Looking for a comprehensive health plan.
I am incorporating things as I learn but
need to be under the care of a good
doctor.
1) since march 2005 - emotional anxiety
from work/family issues; physical trauma
from wisdom teeth extraction (long and 5
stitches needed), 10 days of heavy
antibiotic
dosage led to alternating diarrhea,
constipation, flatulence, constant hunger
and burning if did not eat. Also the
slightest chilli and mouth and stomach
burns, 5-7 stools a
day (continues), most foods went into the
restricted category. No anti-spasmodic
meds helped except 2 homoe meds gave
complete relief for 1 week each.
Diagnosed with
colitis and gastritis in sept 2005. Put
on acid reflux meds for 1.5 mths - none
helped at all. Did not have acid-reflux.
Symptoms now seem as hypoglycemia and not
ibs.
Never been able to stay hungry since
childhood, would get irritable and
extremely weak.
2) since feb 2006 - extreme emotional
anxiety from work/family issues; physical
trauma due to whiplash from car accident.
This led to tmj being impacted causing
head,
jaw, neck, shoulder pain (learnt this only
in nov 2006). Simultaneously insomnia
started. 3-5 hours sleep after which feel
weak. The rest of the night would be this
'weird'
sleep, there was much mental activity
which could not be controlled and now
learnt it was just alpha 'sleep' where
can't get into deep sleep at all
(nightmares started on and
off). Had been taking folic acid 5mg
since childhood, stopped that in sept 2006
and started on a multivitamin b complex
which has 400mcg folate. Within a week I
collapsed with extreme fatigue (first time
in my history so far) and stopped going to
work (just made the connection to folate
in nov 06).
3) mid oct 2006, took 2 weeks of amino
acids, would feel drugged and in bed for
12 hrs, sleeping most of the time but very
tired and drowsy the next day. Stopped
since
extreme bodyache and low level muscle
spasms started. Not lost any weight and
has no craving for sugar, on the contrary
felt the least sugar in cereal to be 'too
sweet'
since july-aug 2006.
4) first 2 weeks of nov 2006, took 2 days
of paxil 10mg (too much nausea, vomitting,
stomach ache so stopped), 10 days of
ambien (6.25 mg cr, 12.5mgcr and finally
10mg), gave me 6 hrs of sleep which felt
like 2 mins. 2nd week of nov 2006, went
on a hypoglycemia diet (diet already
restricted, low sugar and healthy but
stopped
potatoes, rice and switched to low or no
sugar cereal). Within a week panic
attacks, crying spells, spasms, depression
started. Lasted for a week. Thought it
was the sleep
aid so stopped it but it's been 10 days
and got these 'attacks' again in the day
and at night a couple of times and see a
'sugar' connection. Even on nights when I
did not get
these, sleep has stopped. Very drowsy but
wide awake. Cannot fall asleep anymore.
Taking some homoepathy (these would give
some sleep in the past) and valerian but
just manage to get some drowsy very light
sleep from 6-10 am and on some days only.
Took ciproheptadine (anti-histamine) since
feb 2006 on and off when desperate.
2mg (1tsp syrup) gives her 1-2 days of
sleep.
5) emotional and physical trauma may have
led to ibs and/or hypoglycemia from the
beginning) and then depression and chronic
insomnia got added.
Which in turn may have led to adrenal
insufficiency which may have to led to
thyroid imbalance (t3 was 111 oct 2006.
T4 was 5.2 in 2000 and 5.8 oct 2006 and
tsh was 2.4 in 2000, 2.5 in 2003 and 3.6
oct 2006)
worse hypoglycemia and other symptoms like
extreme fatigue (early oct 2006)
body ache (mid oct 2006)
iron deficiency (ferritin level was 19 in
range of 10-110 found early nov 2006)
much hair loss since aug 2006 continues
muscle spasms (which worsened since nov
2006)
twitching, tingling in head, hands and
feet, numbness of extremities (since late
oct 2006)
depression, palpitations, extreme weakness
in legs, constant feeling of something in
throat and desire to hawk to take it out
(since nov 2006).

Well it looks like you have been trying
everything possible to find out what is
wrong with you. It can possibly be
hypoglycemia causing the problem since
doctors have found no solution. If this
is the case then you will need to be on a
strict diet that takes time to see
results. When starting the diet you will
probably feel really bad at first,
symptoms might worsen. But thats just
part of the body trying to fix itself. I
see that you went on a diet recommended
for hypoglycemia eating mostly starches
and probably wasnt watching everything you
ate. Stan has a really good diet with
alot of information on here that might
help you. I dont know if you are aware of
the symptoms that are caused by
hypoglycemia but you should probably check
them out. They should be on the first
page. Can you list what symptoms you
currently are having right now?

Yes, please do, we can help! It sounds
like you're a wreck but I noticed that
amongst everything you've done it sounds
like the proper diet (including probiotics
to get over that antibiotic binge) was not
one of them. List symptoms as he
requested and also a thorough list
of what you eat.

Please ask your doc to check whether you
are hyperthyroid - for this you need the
following blood tests:
TSH
T4
T3
Thyroid antibody test.
Edit: ah, I see you've had a thyroid test
recently, your bloodwork looks like you're
hypothyroid (tsh of 3.6 is outside of the
new reference range), although it's hard
to know without looking at the reference
range used.
I still recommend getting new thyroid
blood work done, this time including
thyroid antibodies. The lump in the throat
is a big warning sign.
Good luck.

Hypoglycemia frequently leads to swollen
glands.

I Have Hypoglacemia Since Childhood Posted: 03-10-07 05:33am
I have recently started taking acipohilus
with bifodus, and found that over 6 months
I have not really had an attack. Instead
of barley beeing able to eat I am now
hungry, which is really weird. But I feel
good, also added 1 mile run everyday.
Have you looked into acidophilus?

That means a bacterial imbalance was
probably the root of your problem.
