Q: Real Cause of Inguinal Hernia

I've met people who have had hernias. Young, middle aged, overweight, skinny, even women. Why is it so common?

What is the primary cause? Lifting too much weight, lifting weights too much?

Or is the real cause digestive problems? Confused

Here are some of the causes I know of, but I think causes can be different depending on what kind of hernia you have...

Abdominal wall weakness
injury
excessive lifting
coughing too hard
chronic cough's
obesity
chronic constipation
pregnancy
