peanutty facts

did you know that peanut butter is a good source of protein. Protein is necessary for growth and maintenance of body structures. Bones, muscles, skins, and other solid parts of the body are made up largely of proteins. They provide energy and make up about 12 to 15 percent of the diet's calories. Animal proteins are found in cheese, eggs, fish, meats and milk. Vegetable proteins are found in beans, grains, nuts (peanuts) and vegetables.

Peanut butter is a staple in 85% of american homes. We eat about 3 pounds of peanut butter per person each year. That is a total of 700 million pounds!

Astronaut allen b. Sheppard took a peanut to the moon.

Two peanut farmers have been elected president of the united states: thomas jefferson and jimmy carter.

Peanut shells are used to make kitty litter, fireplace logs, animal feed, and fuel for power plants.

Consumers prefer creamy to crunchy by a 60% to 40% ratio. Children and women prefer creamy; men like the crunchy stuff.

The world's largest pb&j sandwich, created november 6, 1993 in peanut, pennsylvania, was 40 feet long and consisted of 150 pounds of peanut butter and 50 pounds of jelly.

The average american child will eat 1500 pb&j sandwiches by the time she or he graduates from high school.

Do you have arachibutyrophobia? You do if you're afraid of the peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth!

Nor me! What is it with .Americans and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?! Laughing there are always references to it in films and on tv.

I assume that jelly is what we call jam, right? Cos if it's actually wobbly jelly then that's even more gross! Razz

Oh yeah, and isn't the current medical advice to avoid peanuts during pregnancy because of the risk of sensitising the child to peanuts and then them developing a nut allergy? Peanut allergy is on the increase. Question

Lmao yeah hehehe if I have just marmite on toast it has to be *thick* and it's nice if you put a teaspoon of marmite in a cup of boiling water - yummy drink!

Peanut allergy is on the increase so docs do advise avoiding during the first couple years - some advise avoiding during pregnancy too.

I ate peanuts as a lil' brat and i'm ok - i'm just allergic to banana's hehehehe

Jelly and jam are different, I think jam is thicker than jelly. We also have preserves. They're all kind of the same, it's just a matter of preference.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are yummy! (but I only like it with raspberry preserves!)

I'm not too big on peanut butter. I can't even remember the last time .I had it. Tho I do like it on toast, with just a tiny sprinkle of sugar over the peanut butter.

I cut up slices of granny smith apples, dip them in peanut butter, and then in a little bit of cinnamon sugar.

Good.
