I'm thinking about taking the pill and I actually have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. Ive heard a lot about this other method, a birthcontrol shot every three months but i'm curious as to which is more effective and which will pay off more in the long run. Anyone know anything about this?

There are both risks and benefits to any birth control method you choose..My own experience with the depo shot was that it put me into a deep depression. My step daughter also had problems with that particular shot. She bled for 3 months straight and she ended up in a depressive state as well..The best I can suggest is that you research what is out there, as well as risks and benfits for all, then choose which will best fit into your lifestyle.

I have heard some negative things about the shot. Like it can take a lot longer to get pregnant once you get off of it then it would if you were on say, the pill.

Definitely do .N.O.T get the patch. It has a ton of lawsuits against it for an excessive amount of strokes, heart attacks, etc. It is also not very effective at preventing pregnancy. This is because all of the hormones are released too quickly in the first few days, leaving almost no protection for the end of the week.

I personally would not do the depo shot. I have had too many friends have anxiety attacks or depression from that. I personally have a fondness for seasonale, which lets you have only four periods a year. It was the most awesome bc ever. It was the only pill that ever gave me relief with my cramps and anemia. Good luck in choosing!

The depo injection made me have terrible mood swings. I remember one day I smacked a saucepan into the kitchen cupboard because I was angry at the cupboard because i'd knocked my arm on it... Shocked totally out of character for me and it was a relief when the depo ran out and I got back to normal.

I'm on the mini pill (progestogen only) at the moment but my hubby and I use condoms too - no little brothers or sisters for .Max just yet!!!!
