The girl that watches the babies downstairs puts it on the babies everytime she changes the babies....Is this normal??? I was just wondering because I don't. Do you guys?

Kinda like the whole vagi care thing....I never heard of that....But .Milly hasn't had a rash yet.....So maybe it's a good thing.

I put a&d or vaseline on his butt every single time I change his diaper. It kind of serves as a protective barrier from sitting in urine (or worse). Doing that actually prevents a rash.

I wouldn't use it until you need to. If the baby hasn't got a rash, sounds like you are doing a good job keeping up with wet diapers.

Mmmm ok maybe i'll start doing that too....I normally just put it on her little bum at night before bed because she is sleeping thru the night now and it's a long time before changes.

I put baby powder and that's it...

Brayden has only gotten one rash since he's been born and that's because he had the runs from being sick with the flu! Sad

he likes to grab his weiner and balls too, so diaper rash cream everytime wouldn't be a good idea for us. Haha.

Yeah, I guess having a protective barrier from the wetness isn't a bad idea.

yup I put it on after every diaper change as a barrier from the pee. Vaseline didnt work very well for us, he seemed to get a red butt. I tried sudocreme, same result. Drapolene worked better but somehow stopped working as good after a while. Now im using 'zinc and castor cream' its together in 1 tub and cheap, its working great.

My doctor said never, ever use baby powder. The baby can aspirate the powder into the lungs and can die. She said she saw several cases like these.
My boyfriend is a firefighter/paramedic and he also saw several cases like these.
I also dont use diaper rash cream, unless he has a rash, he did once when he was first born. Its just not necessary.

My daughter has enough breathing problems without the powder, I know better than to use powder, I was just wondering about the cream...I guess it's all up to the mother.

They have special ointments for barrier protection, and honestly the best thing to use against wetness is cornstarch. It's awesome for rashes and everything!! I don't zincofax him everytime for the same reason as dalicia-lol but I do put cornstarch or powder with cornstarch (yes you should wait till they area lil older beofre using baby powder because of the lung thin) at bedtime and he's usually pretty dry the next morning.

My doctor said... Oh wait i'm the mom, I know best! Rolling Eyes

well this is just mo but I think it would take a lot of powder to kill a child and if it were that dangerous it wouldn't be allowed to be sold.

yeah I know....I sprinkle it on him and close his diaper, none of it gets in his face, when I sprinkle it I can't even smell it.
