Nightmares, Then Wake Up Deaf!

Does anyone get anything quite like this?!

It's too long a story to go into detail, but essentially, what happens is I go to bed, then wake up in the middle of the night with screaming tinnitus and hearing loss in one ear.

My hearing improves a bit during the day, then it happens again. And again. This has been going on for a year now, and i've ended up with a permanent hearing loss in both ears.

The strange thing is that it's definitely associated with my sleep quality. I dream continuously throughout the night, and the more vivid and nightmarish the dreams the worse the hearing loss. I also wake up feeling like death, as if I haven't been asleep at all.

Once time back in february I took some diflucan in the evening. I experienced a tingly, warm feeling, went to bed and slept amazingly, gloriously well... And when I woke up the tinnitus was gone! But three hours later (after i'd rung everyone to tell them the great news) it was back.

Taking diflucan never worked again Sad

but I had a similar experience this morning - woke at 8am with the usual horrible tinnitus, but then as I drifted off to sleep again, I felt this wonderful sensation, like a warm tingly pulse going thru my arms and legs... I guess the way I used to feel when I slept normally... And I slept soundly until about 1pm. And my hearing was definitely a bit better when I woke up again.

The docs give up so quickly, i've seen stacks of them, had a multitude of tests, and they're all baffled. However, the one thing we do know is that I have adrenal insufficiency (though they're not sufficiently interested to try and figure out why... Though i'm positive it has everything to do with an abdominal injury sustained nearly two years ago).

Does this sound like a hormone problem to anyone? What is that lovely warm feeling that you get when you wake up after a good night's sleep?(i'm probably asking the wrong people here!) thyroid hormone?

Help! Any insight at all very welcome.

i doubt it hormone or anything of that sort.....

What kind of doctor are you seeing, how exactly are your dreams at night? Just how bad would u explain that it is on scale 1- 10 10 being the highest , most pain...

Have u been examined for holes in ur ear?

It might be brain funtion, I have auditory illusanations...

Its where I can be sleeping or wake up to hearing things , people talking or I can be sitting here right now hear some one talking , like my mother , talking to be about anything or yelling for me , or just voices talking but not telling me to do things u know , but noone can be around, i've learn to know the difference , which keeps me off the quacky pills I like to call them, but it can sometimes tune me out where I dont actually hear my mother..... Til she is right infront of me..... Weird and freaky uhn

so its possible u might have a condition one u havent found a specialist that knows about it , or 2 it hasnt been pin pointed to what they call it ..

Dont give up... When it happens, dont freak out.....

U might have to see a specialist .... But I got daignose though my pyhsicist....

My docs and ear doctor didnt know a thing about it.......

Good luck let us know , this is interesting , u might find someone on here that has the same... Did a good thing posting it ....
