Q: Fusion Surgery Or No?

I have been diagnosed with a degenerated disc at l5s1. It hurts to sit--to type, to read, to watch tv, to eat, etc. Three orthopedic spine specialists agree only a fusion at l5s1 will relieve my pain. I've tried years of physical therapy and chiropractic help with no results whatsoever. Recovering from this type of surgery seems very serious. But I really want to get rid of the pain and am leaning towards surgery soon. Comments please. Thank you.

Re: Fusion Surgery Or No?
I was looking at the date of this post and wondering if you did indeed go through with it. If you did, I hope that it helped. I am about 8 days past a spinal fusion, bit I was in a similar situation where I just couldn't do anything without being in pain. This is not a fun process, and it is difficult to get around. If you did indeed have the surgery, please contact me. I would like to exchange stories ie: what helped, didn't , etc.

Thanks,
Teach
