Personally I dont see how anyone would want to take a chance with castor oil .Someone I know did that and she ended up having diarhea while she was pushing. Gross!!

aw poor thing! Personally i'd never try it, most people ive heard from seem to say they were stuck on the toilet for ages but it didnt start contractions....Just bowel contractions? Lol

Lol I agree with nat that would be so awful. Its bad enough having everyone seeing you down there with blood and everything on show, let alone if you poo a bit when pushing...But actually having diarhea is even worse....You'd stink out the whole room too

My midwife told me he was perfectly healthy, and scored a 10 out of 10 on his last ultrasound a few days before, so she would probably let me go to 42 weeks. We decided I could try the castor oil thing if I wanted, so I did. I took two ounces at 8:45 pm on monday the 6th, and I started having contractions around 2:00 am. I also had some diarreah - not too bad. When I woke up at 10:00 am - I i felt good with some random contractions. Then my water broke at 10:30. My boyfriend took me to the hospital and during the car ride my labor took a 360 degree turn. Within that 10 minutes I was crying and screaming in pain. I got to the hospital and my contractions were a minute apart. And were about a minute long so I had no relief. They gave me my epidural right away because of all the pain (thank god) my labor moved pretty fast and I was ready to push by 3:30 pm on the 7th. I had to push for 2 hours, but my little giovanni came into the word at 5:33 pm happy and healthy. Yeah it is over!!!!!!!!  :d |
so you think that 2 ounces of castor oil actually brought labor on? It sounds like your body was already ready to have the baby.
Regardless of how the baby got here, yay, you have a gorgeous little boy to be proud of!
