Q: Pain Below My Waist When I Stand Long

Hello,

i am 28, male. 5'11", 65 kgs. I have been having this chronic pain starting from my waist (at the back side) right till the toes that too only when I stand up for more than 5 minutes(without movements as in shopping etc). While sitting, walking, running or playing I feel no pain at all. Once the pain(ache) starts, it forces me to sit somewhere or lie down on the bed and after sometime pain vanishes. Alternatively, when I do a small excercise of bending my body forward to touch my toes with hand, I get a lot of relief, which makes me think this is something neural(i.E. Stretching of my body forward eases pain).

This has been happening for almost 6 years now. Initially I went to a local hospital and I was refered to orthopaedics where routine checks (blood test, x-ray) were performed and was told no major issues. After that, I kind of neglected it.

Nowadays I observe this pain engulfs me within a very short period.

Being an it professional, most of the time I spend sitting, continuously.

Could anyone please suggest me the right course of action ?

Thanks in advance

Get a Diagnosis!!!
Hi,

i believe you may possibly benefit from going back to your gp, telling them the exact same information and seeing what they can offer. It may be that only an mri may show the actual problem, if any discs or nerves are involved. X-rays will generally only show bone issues, however they are much cheaper and have a much shorter waiting time on the good old nhs.

Have you considered seeing an osteopath for their opinion? They are highly under-rated in this day and age and will absolutely give you far more time, care and interest than a general gp. If they suspect you need a scan they can also write to your gp suggesting it, you can then be referred to whoever may best be able to help you.

There are far too many people out there trying to treat themselves with painkillers when they have undiagnosed conditions and do not even know whats wrong, in the uk its practically an epidemic.

I have just started a forum for fellow brits suffering back pain, but nobody seems to have heard of it yet, please google it to find me. I am a long-term sufferer of a variety of back pains and have been through the processes many times.

Smile b
