The bubbles are just covering it to make it look like that..

Its one of those times where the photo makes it look something that its not!

Actually, it has been shown that water by the ears does not cause otis media, read a baby book.

Umm so if I want to clean my baby's ears can I use a damp wash cloth? Because q-tips give me really bad shivers.

Cute pic, I hope it is just bubbles on his ears cos I dont think its good to have water going in a babys ears either, especially with bubble bath chemicals and soap etc in it. I dunno about any old wives tales on the subject, I just dont think its a good idea. He looks too far under the water imo.
