Q: Alesse - Does Order Matter?

I take alesse 21, and found myself caught over the long weekend unable to refill my prescription.

I seem to recall, but don't have a package insert to verify, that all 21 pills are equal doses. Can someone verify this for me?

I have a pack with some leftover pills from a few months ago (when I messed up a cycle). I have taken those for the last two days and want to ensure that I am still protected.

Also, will it matter if I started later on sunday (late afternoon as opposed to early morning)?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Same Pills
Hi there -
all of the alesse pills are the same. It's what they call a monophasic pill, meaning there is only one "phase" or type of hormone being provided consistently with each dose. In fact, I believe that drug companies are required to make different pills look different (color or shape) if the content isn't the same within the pack (which is why the placebo/"period" pills are always a different color).
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by starting later on sunday - if you're like me, you probably start new packs on sundays. The important thing is to take the pill as close to the same time as possible each month. So if last month you took it at 10am, had your period, then started a new pack at 3pm, it's not a problem as long as you continue to take this month's pills at 3pm. They say that a difference of more than 4 hours from one day to the next can affect the performance of the drug, so to be extra careful if that happens you may want to consider a back up method.
Hope that's helpful!
