Q: Lymphadenopaty (swollen glands) and spondylosis of lumbar sp
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 11th, 2006
Hi doctor.
I have the following symptoms for a few months now. I first notice swollen glands above my right clavicle. went to the doctor and she said it might be a viral infection (because i had a cold at the time), however, it has not gone away since. i then went to another doctor who recommended that i do a blood test, i had elevated eosinophils (1.5) and proteins. she said it is also a viral thing. but i'm really concern whether this has contributed to my neck and shoulder pain(went to the physiotherapy for this) and sometimes i get altered sensations on my fingers(just like there's something there that i want to shake off), and pain right through my arm. I've actually tried to massage it, hoping it'll go away. it did actually shrink a little (sort of 'pop') but it has gone back to its original size. i can also feel a little pea-size thing in the groin area and i have groin and leg pain and weird sensation on sole of my feet sometimes like pulsations (i did a ct scan which revealed i have a slight disc buldge between L4 to L5 but did not press on the nerve so the doc said it'll go away, she thought it was a scatiaca)
I'm very concern and will see the doctor again on monday. what is wrong? it has really affected me mentally!!

Gland Disorders Answer A1851
The symptoms that you mention originating from the leg (pain and pulsations) and groin (“weird sensation”) are probably due to the spondylotic changes in the lumbar region of the vertebral column.
Symptoms originating from the neck (pain), shoulder (pain) and arm (pain, altered sensations) could likewise be attributed to spondylotic changes in the cervical region of the vertebral column.
Swollen lymph glands (lymphadenopaty) on the neck could be caused by an infection or tumor. To find out the real nature of the possible lymphadenopaty both punition and cytological analysis are required.
