Tried searching the 'net for the subject symptoms, but as you can imagine, way too many unrelated results.
I have a male friend, early 30's, who had a weird "episode" three days ago. No existing medical conditions (unless you consider allergies to dogs/cats) or drugs being taken. No smoking, overeating, etc., regular exercise. Peak health.
Anyways, he was working on his house, kneeling down, when his peripheral vision went blurry. I don't know why he did this, but he shrugged it off and worked through it. Afterwards, he was sitting with his wife, and went to say something, but his speech was incoherent. He was totally conscious of what he was *trying* to say, and his wife knew what he was going to say, but his wife could not understand his speech. It was coming out essentially garbled.
Unfortunately I wasn't there to witness this, and haven't been able to ask further questions, so that's all I know right now, except 911 was called, the responding medics said all his vitals were fine, and referred him to the emergency room. Apparently he had a ct scan (of at least his head I was told) immediately, but nothing abnormal was found.
At this point apparently the Dr. Said there was nothing wrong and released him. No resolution, no real suggestion as to what to do next.
First time this has ever happened to him, and i'm a bit curious as to why something like this would ever just "crop up". The eye thing alone might not be very alarming, (muscle spasm, tension, etc) but followed up with the speech problem it would seem to me potentially quite serious.
Any advice, suggestions, or similar experiences out there?
Thanks!
