Q: Crazy Panic Attacks! Please Help.

Just today I had one of the worst panic attacks ever. I was sitting down watching t.V and was getting a couple heart palpitations, and then all of a sudden my chest and back got super tight(felt like a heart attack), my heart got really fast, and I just felt like I was losing complete control, this lasted for like 20 mins. I took a sublingual ativan right away, to calm me down, and then after my heart rate went back down I was ok but the ativan made me drowsy, so I had a nap after, everytime I have a bad panic attack I go to bed, its the only way for me to completely just shut down and relax. I only had one of these attacks around the same time last year. I was rushed to the er , and they actually caught one of these"attacks" on an ecg and they said everything was normal my heart rate just went really fast, and all the docs said was it was classic panic. This type is new to me, I have had anxiety for about 6 years now, and I am only 20 years old. I hate it and right now I feel so alone and its making me so worked up. Any advice or people that have experienced the same kind of attacks befor?

Hi jenna2, panic attack, are really frightening, I know I had them last year just after my mum died. Try not to run away from these attacks, once your body, gets used to them, and you learn to relax more they will lessen. Try breathing slowly, and deeply, when you have an attack, stop what you are doing, and try to relax, and let go, do not fight it, try to think of something nice.

I think also a good vitamin b complex will help, as will omega 3 fish oil, we can also chat about a herb that may help you if you would like

kind regards mike

Sounds like me, I was getting panic atttackd for 7 years then one day last year my heart started racing, coulnt catch my breath and got rushed to the e.R. For months after I was always worried bout my heart racing then abnormal heart palpitations came it sucks. Im doinf cogitive therapy right now and it did and does help a lot. Youre not alone, you do feel alone I felt the sae. Its hard to tell you friends right? I dint wanna tell my friends and that resulted in me barely going out because I dint wann ahave a attack while ata friends house. The best thing to do is not hide youre emotions jut tell youre friends. Maybe not all of em but maybe one or 2 close ones it might help.
