Q: What Are the Odds?

I was going to post this in the fertility section, but the people here seemed nice. Smile

i don't know much about fertility and getting pregnant for the first time. But I figured I would see if anyone might be able to shed some light on my situation for me.

I ovulated tuesday, sept. 7th. My husband and I had sex thursday, saturday, and sunday and he ejaculated in me all three times. We had sex again tuesday but he didn't ejaculate in me. (sorry if this is a bit too much info, but I figured women trying to get pregnant will understand! Wink )

nobody in my family has ever had problems trying to conceive. In fact, my mother and sister seemed to be very fertile, both becoming pregnant very early in their marriages. My periods have always been like clockwork. I've not been on the pill for a year.

Now, my question is: what do you think the odds are that my husband and I could have conceived this week?

Thanks for any help you guys can give! We appreciate it much!! :d

If a healthy couple have sex during the peak fertility window, they have about a 20-25% chance of conceiving that month.

Odds are you'll conceive within a year, probably sooner, if you keep doing what you're doing, assuming you're both healthy.

I was lucky enough to conceive our first month of trying. And I did it doing exactly what you did.

Good luck! Wink

I think it would be great if it happened our first month! We've only been flirting with the idea for a short while now. I'm not even sure if my husband knows that i'm really trying here! I'm so excited to start our family, though! It's a terrifying thought, but wonderful at the same time. There's all the worry of how we'll afford it and all the other concerns surrounding having children. But it just seems so worth it to me...

I've been reading through a lot of the forums, and all the people here seem so kind and supportive! It's really great to get connected with women going through the same things as I am!

So then the earliest I could test would be around the 20th, right?

You *could* take an early detection test, such as .First .Response or .E.P.T, but honestly even if you test early, it could give you a false negative. I personally didn't test positive until the day my period was due.

I think the earliest you can test is four days before you're due to have your period, but I would personally recommend waiting until it is due. I had two false negatives before I got my positive.

Just friendly advice. Wink

read all the posts in that thread as it will tell you about when you are most likely to be fertile, when to test and more besides.
