Symptoms of Parkinson's disease are:
1. Muscle stiffness (rigor)
2. Difficult, slow movements (slow speech, sluggish walking with small steps, writing with small letters etc.)
3. Shaking in a state of rest (tremor) which is rtyhmic, intensified during excitement.
4. Can’t keep the body’s balance (dizziness).
5. Face is like a mask without expression; shining like lubricated with oil (‘facies oleosa’).
6. Can’t keep straight position of the body.
7. Depression, intellectual deprivation, etc.
If the reason for the onset of Parkinsonism is unknown; that is why the condition is called Parkinson’s disease. If the reason for Parkinsonism is known (brain inflammation, brain tumors, brain traumas, cerebrovascular disorders, medicines (anti-psychotics), poisoning with Mn, CO, HCN, methanol…), however, it is called secondary Parkinsonism. Regardless, you can consult a neurologist for an accurate diagnosis.
