Q: Heavy bleeding + light pink spotting
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 5th, 2006
I came to visit my fiance in April of this year, we stayed with his family until July...And then I got to go back home for a couple of months to see mine. I had my period when we left on the bus, which was a little over a month ago. I got it again a week later. I've also had 2 or 3 since, and this time when I had it, there was some heavy blood for about 2 days, it ended over a week ago. Since It has ended I've been seeing a light pink liquid, when I urinate. But it isn't in the urine, only on the toilet paper. I've been under a lot of stress, since we babysit from 7 am one day to 4 pm a few days later. (His mom goes to work at 4 pm, but she gets home around 7...and we have to get up with the kids and watch them until she wakes up which is usually right before she has to go to work again.) There are also a lot of problems with my family at home, and I have had issues with depression and anxiety since I was a child. I recently found out my sister's baby could be dying, and my grandmother needs heart surgery, along with my mom being very depressed and everything. I know I'm very stressed, but I'm also very concerned that it could be something else... And pregnancy is something I've never wanted, and would be the worst thing that could happen right now especially with everything going on. I don't know how I'd afford an abortion, and I wouldn't feel comfortable asking his mom for help.

It doesn't seem likely that you can have 4-5 menstruations in a period of little over a month. The vaginal bleedings you experienced were probably spotting. In fact, in such cases, you can’t be sure what was a menstrual period and what was spotting. This condition is called menometrorrhagia. Menometrorrhagia is not a sign of pregnancy, but you can still do a home pregnancy test to check, in any case. You must visit a gynecologist to identify this anomaly and diagnose the reason for the condition.
