Alyvia started out in her crib. But the sleep deprivation caught up with me after two weeks, and I began to nurse her in bed during her night feedings so I could nap. Eventually I just left her there, because I was too tired to get up and put her back in her crib.
After that, she wouldn't sleep in her crib hardly at all. She would wake up within minutes of being put down and scream hysterically. We tried to transfer her for a month or so before deciding that co-sleeping is the better choice for her and us. At least we all sleep now!
We have a waterbed, which is a definite no-no for co-sleeping. Because of that, I keep .Aly between .Aaron and I so that she doesn't get caught between the water-mattress and the frame. I'm also paranoid about rolling onto her when I sleep, so I try to keep a bit of distance between her and myself. But she likes being close to a warm body, so she always ends up right against me again. (which I don't understand, because she can't properly roll over yet...) every morning I wake up, i'm at the very edge of the bed with the frame dug into my back, an infant curled up against my chest, and about three feet of bed wide open on her other side. It's nuts.
