I'll be letting my daughter sleep with me all the time. A lot of people seem to think co-sleeping is a bad idea, but i'm very interested in the ideas of attachment parenting, and don't see a problem at all. As long as it is done safely. When do you think it's safe to have your baby sleep in bed with you? Or what do you think about co-sleeping?

We have a bassinet on the side of our bed that she'll sleep in for a while, but eventually I want her to sleep in her crib. It'll make me nervous b/c its on the other side of the house, so we'll see. I want her to be able to sleep on her own, so me and my husband can have privacy. If I let her sleep with us, i'll have a bed full in about 7 years.

I wouldn't have any issues of sacrificing intimacy with my partner, as i'm going to be a single mom from day one. If you aren't dealing with that do you think you'ld do differently?

If i'd be a single mom, i'd probably have her sleep with me as long as it was safe.

iam also into attachement parenting. I usually transfer .Trace into our bed in the middle of the night. I started co sleeping when he was about 2 months, because before that, he was just too tiny and I was scared. There are many benefits to co sleeping and attachment parenting.

lucas has slept in my double bed with me since day one. I planned to do that. I wanted to be close for the bonding and because its easier if you breastfeed to lay on your side doing it, not have to pick him up. Also being a single mom I didnt have to worry about being too squashed with a partner in there either. And if anything was wrong, I thought i'd know sooner if he was right next to me.

For safety I pushed the bed against the wall one side, so he cant fall out over there, and put a rolled up blanket infront of the wall so he cant accidently bang his head on it or anything. And there's a rolled up baby blanket inbetween him and me like in the middle of the bed, to stop me accidently rolling on him or being too close to his face and suffocating him. (i remove that one when feeding him obviously) also because breastfeeding means the baby has to change sides, I bought one of those bed guards for the other side of the bed for when he's sleeping on that side. So there's no way he can fall out. Smile

*edited to add*
in the daytime for the first few months he slept in a moses basket, now for naps during the day he either sleeps on the sofa with cushions infront and I keep an eye on him, or in his playpen, occasionally he falls asleep on the carpet when we've been playing lol. If he falls asleep in my arms, I always put him in the play pen, because if u let them get used to sleeping on u, it's a hard thing to break.

I plan on putting him in his own bedroom in his cot once hes about 10 months. Im going to stop breastfeeding then too. (he's got 4 teeth come through now, but it seriously hasn't hurt yet....Weird lol it's like he knows not to bite them!)

I like my bed too much to share with my kids Embarassed

i also move around lot and would be scared i'd squash them. I give them attention every minute of the day possible so night time is my chance to relax and snuggle up by myself (i miss snuggling up to neil though Crying or Very sad )

Alyvia started out in her crib. But the sleep deprivation caught up with me after two weeks, and I began to nurse her in bed during her night feedings so I could nap. Eventually I just left her there, because I was too tired to get up and put her back in her crib.

After that, she wouldn't sleep in her crib hardly at all. She would wake up within minutes of being put down and scream hysterically. We tried to transfer her for a month or so before deciding that co-sleeping is the better choice for her and us. At least we all sleep now!

We have a waterbed, which is a definite no-no for co-sleeping. Because of that, I keep .Aly between .Aaron and I so that she doesn't get caught between the water-mattress and the frame. I'm also paranoid about rolling onto her when I sleep, so I try to keep a bit of distance between her and myself. But she likes being close to a warm body, so she always ends up right against me again. (which I don't understand, because she can't properly roll over yet...) every morning I wake up, i'm at the very edge of the bed with the frame dug into my back, an infant curled up against my chest, and about three feet of bed wide open on her other side. It's nuts.

how old is your little boy allie? I only ask because it is strongly advised not to allow a baby up to 6 months to sleep on a sofa because of the sids risk. This is whether you are next to them or not.

8 months. Do you mean a baby under or over 6 months shouldn't?

Lucas has slept on it in the daytime from 3 or 4 months, soon as he got too long for his moses basket. Seemed fine.

yeah I meant under 6 months. It's just advised against because of risk of sids. I'm glad your little man's ok though. Wasn't trying to lecture you, just thought I better mention it.
