Hello! Let me just cut to the chase. I am 20 years old, and have been with he same partner for 4 years. I have not been on birth control for 2 years, because he and I have been trying to conceive. Unfortunately, I have not been able to conceive. Crying or Very sad with a long talk, we have decided to postpone a bit, and to start back on birth control. I am using the same method I previously used, that I have never had any complications with: the patch.

The reason why I am posting today, is because I am having some abnormal symptoms, and would like a little bit of advice. Embarassed
a little more in depth info: I have a regular (painful) period around the 18th of every month. My last period was on sept. 18. (about 5-6 days long). Around the 18th of oct. No period had come, in fact it did not arrive until the 26. I took a couple of hpt, with a neg. Result. I put my bc patch on, that same day. That day, I had an extremely light period. For the days to follow, all together, the blood that was released would not even have filled a panty liner. That is a bit weird to me. So I changed my patch on the 2nd of november...And now it is the 4, and I am still bleeding. I am actually bleeding a bit more heavy than before, (but not as much as a reg. Period.) I know that the bc is supposed to trick your body into believing it is pregnant, but I am feeling really weird. My breasts are noticeable larger, and I am nauseated all of the time, and feeling a bit lazy.

I was on this same bc before, and have never experienced these symptoms. Has this happened to anyone before, or does anyone have any suggestions? (besides take another test, I have taken 6). I am just not feeling like myself, and need a little advice, please. Also, if I finally am pregnant, would the baby be hurt throughout this process?

Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing from you all. :d

Hi and welcome to ehealth! I'm sorry you seem to be a taking a while to concieve. A few of the girls on here are in a similar situation so you might find it useful to chat with them on the getting pregnant forum.

As a regards to whether you are pregnant, the fact that you have had 6 neg tests suggests to me that you are probably not pregnant.

However, your painful periods could be the key to your infertility. It may be the symptom of an underlying problem that is giving you trouble concieving. Conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic inflammatory disease can cause painful periods and problems concieving.

My best advice to you is to speak to your doctor and explaining your symptoms so you can find out if this is an issue for you.
